Thanks to all the members and volunteers who braved the rainy weather to join in the Greater Worcester Land Trust Annual Meeting at the Patch Reservoir Environmental Field Station for GWLT's 39th Year!
There was even a post-meeting Chicken of the Woods mushroom harvest!

When we asked Sansoucy Stone for help with a rustic granite bench for Cascading Waters trailhead on Olean Street we had no idea the Labor Day weekend gift that was coming! Genuinely!

Sansoucy Stone are the folks who made this past National Trails Day possible on Newton Hill. They also generously assisted GWLT with work by the Cascades Falls a while back. They have been friends of conservation in Worcester for years now.

Also, if you keep a careful eye out you will note that the stone bench at the Roosevelt Oak and at Curtis Pond Overlook are because they were willing to deliver to the site what we couldn't move as volunteers.

Years ago now, the Town of Boylston and Tower Hill Botanical Garden struck a deal to permanently preserve a block of land adjacent to the botanical garden. The original plan called for the Town Conservation Commission to hold the Conservation Restriction and Tower Hill to hold the land, but a wrinkle developed over the years and a new holder for the CR was needed, and GWLT was asked to step in, to hold the CR, and to fulfill the original plan. Which brings us to the Worcester Registry of Deeds this afternoon, where, after months of paperwork shuffling, and signatures, and approvals, the CR is finally recorded!
The Boylston site is 14.34 acres, contains wetlands and uplands, is completely forested, and makes some really fantastic habitat!
The site is also adjacent to Massachusetts DCR Water Supply land, and this land was the missing donut hole in an otherwise preserved landscape. Now it is a continuous area of conservation!
