Looking for some free sod for your yard, Worland residents? 🏡🌱

We just cut sod at Sage Creek Park to make room for the new playground, and it's up for grabs!

⏰ Availability: First come, first serve.

📍 Location: 1850 Sage Crossing Ave
(You can find it on Google Maps here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/N4YdyZU3sfHpkxFR8 )

🎨 Where to look: Any precut grass inside the white paint lines is free to take.

🚫 Important Rule: Please DO NOT drive on the grass in the park.

🛠️ What to bring: Bring a wagon or a wheelbarrow to haul your sod away.

🚧 Deadline: Any leftover sod will be removed on Wednesday, June 17th so playground construction can officially begin!

UPDATE 5/29/2026:

Wyoming DEQ has issued a Bloom Advisory for our pond and requested we post "Be on the Lookout" signage to inform the public of risks associated with the Bloom.

These signs have been posted around the pond, and the pond reopened as of this morning. Please read the information posted by Washakie County Public Health and stay safe at the pond

Community Alert: Unconfirmed Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB)

We are issuing a closure notice after observing visual signs of what may be a Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) in the Golf Course Pond, also known as our local fishing pond near the Airport. The pond is closed immediately and will remain closed pending official test results. Please be advised that these observations are unconfirmed, and we are currently collecting samples for testing and awaiting official laboratory results.

Until we receive confirmation, please follow these precautions out of an abundance of caution:

Avoid Contact: Do not swim, wade, or have any other direct contact with the water in areas where you see discolored water, floating scums, or any material that looks like paint, coagulated clumps, or small grass clippings.

Protect Pets: Keep children and pets away from areas with suspected bloom activity.

Rinse Immediately: If skin contact with the suspected bloom material occurs, immediately rinse the exposed area with fresh water and soap. Seek medical attention if you or your pet experience any adverse health effects.

We are consulting with the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and Washakie County Public Health. We will provide an update as soon as we have confirmed results of the algal bloom.
