Washakie County School District #1 has reported that an unknown source has been disseminating false information via text messages and/or Facebook posts regarding schools being canceled today due to a water line break. Again, this information is not accurate, nor are the posts being disseminated by the school district. Schools are in fact in session today as usual. Washakie County School District #1 has released the following post…

We are aware that fake text messages are being sent to parents stating that school buildings will be closed today due to a water main break. This information is not true. School is in session as normal today. Please rely only on official communication from the school district for accurate updates. Thank you.

Community Awareness:

The Worland Police Department has recently been investigating reports of alleged kidnapping attempts within the City of Worland.

Through the course of these investigations there has been no substantiated evidence that any crime(s) occurred. Residential security cameras were reviewed within the areas of where the alleged crimes occurred, and there simply wasn't any video evidence that supported the reported events, vehicles, or person(s) that were reported to be involved. All potential witnesses who were in the areas during the reported time frames denied seeing anything unusual, or anything else that supported the reported allegations.

There is no threat to the public and no other similar reports have been made to the Worland Police Department. We would like to thank our community members who allowed us to review their residential security camera footage, as well as all of the potential witnesses who were very helpful during the investigations.
