Our take-home craft this month is papercraft trolleys, in honor of Steve Cormier's talk on Sunday, Good Golly ... Missed Trolley! Come hear him on the history of trolleys in the Hilltowns, 2pm Sunday 5/17, and drop by the library to take & make a trolley of your own! We've got two different models, in different degrees of difficulty.

Good Golly…Missed Trolley! Sunday, May 17, 2 pm @ the Worthington Historical Society -- Local author and historian Steve Cormier will lead a book talk featuring his newest book, Good Golly…Missed Trolley, which captures the history, evolution, and impact of the trolley system, particularly in Western Massachusetts.
This program is supported by the Worthington Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, and by FOWL, the Friends of the Worthington Library.

The Book Club books are here!
Our copies of The Naming Song, by Jedediah Berry, have arrived — come check one out!
Mr. Berry himself will be coming on Saturday, May 30 at 4pm for a special author event. The Naming Song won the 2025 Massachusetts Book Award in Fiction. As part of the library’s monthly book club selection, attendees are invited to read The Naming Song in advance and then gather for a rich conversation with the author.

This program is sponsored by the Mass Book Awards Speakers Bureau and is presented in collaboration with the Massachusetts Center for the Book.

Coming on Saturday, May 9, 2 – 4 pm, we'll offer Pastel Painting Workshop: Vincent van Gogh’s Irises, taught by Gregory John Maichack. Learn to draw an iris inspired by Vincent van Gogh! Materials, templates, and photo references of various irises will be supplied. Participants will keep their 12 X 18 pastel painting of a vivid iris. There's room for 10 participants, and at posting time we have four slots open -- come sign up!

Jo Maichack! This is for adults of any skill level. What will it be like?Maichack explains: “I create stimulating writing prompts from a broad selection of authors on different themes. These provide inspiration with many facets that writers can relate to and write about as they associate ideas with their own lives. This is helpful in getting writers to write freely without self-criticism,” says Maichack.

Worthington Public Library will host professional storyteller Mary
Jo Maichack, who will present a workshop in memoir writing for adults of any skill level on Thursday, April 9 from 4 - 5:30 pm at the library. Maichack's memoir workshop have been well-liked and well-attended: “I love literature, so I create stimulating writing prompts from a broad selection of authors on different themes. These provide inspiration with many facets that writers can relate to and write about as they associate ideas with their own lives. This is helpful in getting writers to write freely without self-criticism,” says Maichack.

Come to the Worthington Library on Saturday for the Book Club's first Speculation Session! We're going to talk about The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell. Read only through Chapter 29, and we will speculate among friends about what the end will/should be! In March, we'll finish reading & discuss the actual end of the book.
