This week the Worthington Police Department hosted a Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Course. Officers from across the state attended. These officers were from the Worthington Police Department, Linton Police Department, Greene County Sheriff’s Reserves, Elletsville Police Department, Indiana State Police, Waveland Police Department, North Salem Police Department, and the Mulberry Police Department.

During this training officers were certified in the SFST test performed when investigating cases with intoxicated drivers. This class offered a rare opportunity for students to also take advantage of a Wet lab experience. This affords students the opportunity to see the effects of alcohol on an individual in volunteers who volunteer their time to consume alcohol and perform the tests as administered by the students.

This training was made possible by the cooperation and donations from the Greene County Extension Office, Walton Funeral Service, Jose’s Bar and Grille, and a special thanks to the Linton Police Department for instructing the course and organizing the Wet lab participants.

The Worthington Police Department has implemented a new phone system designed to streamline communication and make it easier for residents to reach the services they need.

11/26/2025

*** UPDATED 11/28/2025 ***
Effective immediately, the Worthington Police Department has rolled out a new phone system. Residents will notice a new prompt when calling the Worthington Police Department.

The number for the Worthington Police Department is (812) 875-2424.

The new Prompts will give you the following options:

- Speak to the On-Duty Officer
- Speak to Dispatch
- Report Local Ordinance Issues
- Request a Report
- File a Complaint
- or speak with one of the Full-Time Officers

*** The phone in our lobby, which previously routed callers to the Greene County Dispatch Center, now automatically connects you to the On-Duty Officer when you pick it up.

We hope that adding the ability to speak directly with the On-Duty Officer will strengthen the bond between our department and our community. The additional options allow greater organization within our department. We look forward to continuing to improve and move forward as we enter 2026.
