Good Morning Wrangell

Three people have been or are being charged with DUI based upon their activities last weekend.

Please do not drink and drive. We have reasonably priced cabs that cost less than a couple of beers, way less than a couple thousand dollars of an arrest and infinitely less than the lives you will affect with a deadly crash.

Public Safety Announcement:

Actually, more of a reminder with the beautiful weather we are having and the use of alternative transportation. There are limitations regarding ATVs and UTVs on these sunny fun days:

ATVs/UTVs must be registered and insured to operate on roadways.

They are not legal on highways with speed limits above 45mph (This is all of Zimovia Highway between 2 mile and 6 mile)

No driving on sidewalks

These devices must be operated by the same rules of the road as any other motorized vehicle.

* 13 AAC 02.325 (primary rule allowing use ≤45 mph roads)
* Operational requirements once on road:
* AS 28.10 (registration)
* AS 28.15 (driver’s license)
* AS 28.22.011 (insurance)

BIKE RODEO UPDATE

Good Afternoon Wrangell

With all the events planned for Saturday, May 2, we have decided to push the bike and scooter rodeo to a later date. We did not want this educational opportunity to be lost in the shuffle of all the great events this weekend.

But, for now, we are reposting last year's educational video.

Pause- there is no need for immediate action to save shipping or processing. A brand new IPhone valued at $1099 being shipped to you sounds too good to be true.

Think - did you order a phone? Did a family member order a phone?

Verify - open your Amazon account and go to recently ordered items. If there is no IPhone listed in your ordered items then this is a SCAM!

Join us Saturday, May 2nd for Our Annual Scooter and Bike Rodeo. Learn proper rules of the road, safety and develop operating skills on an obstacle course.

Time and location is pending but it will likely be in the late afternoon.

WRANGELL POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE

April 1, 2026

**ANY CHARGES REPORTED IN THESE PRESS RELEASES ARE MERELY ACCUSATIONS AND THE DEFENDANTS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNLESS AND UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at approximately 4:15 p.m., law enforcement officers apprehended Jazmyn Wright (33 years) pursuant to a warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on charges of fourth-degree assault.

The charges stem from an investigation into an assault on a child incident earlier this year.

No additional information will be disclosed at this time, as the case is currently under review.

March 26, 2026

**ANY CHARGES REPORTED IN THESE PRESS RELEASES ARE MERELY ACCUSATIONS AND THE DEFENDANTS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNLESS AND UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, during the afternoon hours, WPD Officers were dispatched to an intoxicated subject. Upon arrival, officers identified Taylor Stavee (34yrs) as the intoxicated person. Taylor is out on bond for a previous DV charge and is on conditions of release to not consume alcoholic beverages.

Taylor was arrested and charged with Violating Conditions of Release, AS 11.56.757(a)
