Earlier this morning at approximately 2:09 AM, Wrens Fire Rescue, along with Stapleton Fire Department and Avera Fire Department, were dispatched to a reported structure fire.

Wrens Engine 1 arrived on scene at 2:13 AM, marking a rapid 4-minute response time, and found a single-story residential structure with smoke and fire showing with approximately 50% involvement. Wrens Engine 2, Avera Engine 3 and Tanker 3 also responded.

Through the quick actions and coordinated efforts of all responding personnel, crews were able to rapidly bring the fire under control and prevent further extension of the incident.

Wrens Fire Rescue would like to thank Avera Fire Rescue, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Wrens Police Department, Jefferson County 911 Dispatchers and Gold Cross EMS for their assistance and support during this incident.

As always, we encourage all residents to ensure smoke alarms are properly installed and functioning within their homes.

Wrens Fire Rescue would like to commend everyone involved with the structure fire response in Edge Hill on Friday night.

Upon request for mutual aid, Wrens Fire Rescue responded with Engine 5 and Tanker 5. Wrens Fire Rescue was proud to respond alongside neighboring agencies to assist with fire suppression efforts and provide support during a challenging incident. During the water shuttle operation between multiple units from the scene to Gibson, more than 20,000 gallons of water was transported to the fireground to sustain suppression efforts. Calls such as these are a reminder of the importance of strong partnerships, coordinated response, and the dedication of volunteer and career personnel who answer the call at all hours.

We are honored to stand beside Glascock County Fire Department, Avera Fire & Rescue, Stapleton Fire Department, Jefferson County Fire Department, law enforcement, EMS, EMA, and Georgia Forestry Commission in serving and protecting our communities.

Thank you to all agencies involved for your teamwork, commitment, and service.

πŸ”₯ IMPORTANT PUBLIC NOTICE: BURN BAN IN EFFECT πŸ”₯

The Georgia Forestry Commission has issued a burn ban affecting 91 Georgia counties, including Jefferson County, due to extremely high fire danger and ongoing drought conditions across the state. These dry conditions have created an environment where even the smallest spark can quickly turn into a fast-moving and destructive wildfire.

The Wrens Fire Department is asking all residents to take this ban seriously. Outdoor burning of any kind during these conditions is not only dangerous, but could place lives, homes, property, livestock, and emergency responders at serious risk.

With vegetation extremely dry, winds can spread fire rapidly beyond control in a matter of seconds. What may begin as a small debris burn, campfire, or discarded cigarette can quickly become a devastating incident impacting families and our entire community.

We strongly urge everyone to do their part by following the burn ban, avoiding any activity that could create sparks or flames outdoors, and reporting smoke or fire immediately.

Please help us protect Wrens and surrounding areas by using caution, staying alert, and sharing this message with others.

Wrens Fire Rescue would like to extend our deepest gratitude to an anonymous donor for a generous donation to our department.

With these funds, we were able to purchase a full set of DeWalt battery-operated tools through Jay’s Ace Hardware here in Wrens. These tools will be dispersed across our fleet, with the majority placed on the Rescue Engine, while also being distributed among our two other Fire Engines, Rescue Squad, and Chief Truck.

These tools are essential in helping our firefighters perform rescues more quickly and efficiently, ensuring we can continue to serve and protect the citizens of Wrens and Jefferson County at the highest level.

We are incredibly thankful for this act of generosity and the continued support from our communityβ€”it truly makes a difference in the work we do every day.

πŸš’ THANK YOU to the Georgia Forestry Commission! 🌲
Wrens Fire Rescue is proud to announce that we have been awarded a 50% matching grant through the Georgia Forestry Commission, receiving $2,847.50 to purchase five new sets of Multi-Mission Wildland Gear.
This specialized gear will be used to enhance firefighter safety and performance during a wide range of emergency incidents including:
πŸ”₯ Wildland fire suppression
🚨 Search and rescue operations
πŸš— Vehicle extrications
πŸ§— Rope rescues
🩺 Medical emergencies
πŸ” Why Multi-Mission Gear?
Unlike traditional Structural Firefighting Gear, which is designed for high-heat interior structure fires, Multi-Mission Gear is lighter, more breathable, and better suited for extended operations in outdoor environments and technical rescue scenarios. Structural gear can lead to heat stress and reduced mobility during these types of calls.
Structural Firefighting Gear Cost: $3,600 per set
Multi-Mission Wildland Gear Cost: $1,139 per set
By investing in Multi-Mission Gear, we’re not only better protecting our firefighters, but also maximizing our budget, allowing us to outfit more personnel with the right gear for the job.
We are incredibly thankful to the Georgia Forestry Commission for helping make this important purchase possible. Their continued support of rural fire departments like Wrens ensures we remain ready to serve our community safely and efficiently.
We also want to extend a special thank you to Erik Alford and Bennett Fire Products for their outstanding assistance in helping us complete the order and ensuring the gear met all of our operational needs. Your commitment to supporting Georgia firefighters does not go unnoticed!
