ACO LEXI VISITS KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS IN PLAINVILLE ON CAREER DAY!

As the Regional Animal Control Officer for Wrentham and Plainville, ACO Lexi visited Mrs. Moore’s kindergarten class at the Jackson Elementary School in Plainville.

Curious kiddos quizzed ACO Lexi about her adventures, specifically inquiring if she’s ever caught alligators, leopards or kangaroos. I’m still waiting for her answer!

WRENTHAM POLICE HONOR GUARD
AT KP GAME.

The recently formed Wrentham Police Honor Guard appeared at the KP Warriors v. North Attleboro Red Rocketeers game last week.

The Wrentham Police Honor Guard serves as a specialized ceremonial unit, representing the police profession at public & community events; honoring fallen and retired officers at funerals and memorials; as well as attending other assemblies and functions as needed.

Four officers representing their profession to the highest standard!

Large tree (now firewood as seen in pic) fell, taking down utility pole, wires, etc. All traffic on Taunton Street is detoured to Beach Street.

WRENTHAM POLICE IS CURRENTLY HIRING FOR ONE OPEN POSITION.

The Wrentham Police Department is currently accepting applications for one full-time police officer position via lateral transfer. Both Civil Service and non-Civil Service officers are welcome to apply.

Applicants must have completed a full-time MPTC approved police academy; be POST certified and currently employed as a full time police officer.

WPD offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package; a wide array of specialized assignments; and participation in MetroLEC, a regional law enforcement response team.

9/11 Memorial Ceremony

Wrentham Police and Fire personnel gathered today in remembrance of the 9/11 terrorist attacks against the United States. Joined by town officials and residents, tribute was paid to those who lost their lives and those who lost their loved ones 25 years ago. The heroes that day were police officers and firefighters who swore an oath when they pinned their badges on. They ran straight into hell and had to have known the chances of surviving were grim at best. They were correct. And there were other heroes who wore no badges, donned no uniforms, swore no public oath to risk their lives or to serve in the face of danger. They were civilians like many of you. Office workers, executives, maintenance staff and so many everyday people. The only oath they ever swore was to themselves, unspoken, but ready to act on if the time ever came and it did come on 9/11/2001. All of these heroes perished along with thousands of innocent victims they attempted to save. Never Forget.

WRENTHAM DAY ROAD CLOSURES AND DETOURS

WRENTHAM DAY IS THIS SATURDAY, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m.!

BIG CHANGE this year is the closure of Rt.1A (South Street) in Wrentham Center. The section of Rt. 1A from The Looking Glass to The Gavel will be closed to vehicle traffic in both directions. The street area (South Street) will be filled with touch-a-trucks; tents and vendors.

DETOURS EFFECTIVE 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning:

Note, though the main detour begins at 7:00 a.m., Rt. 1A in the center will be closed at 4:00 a.m. so crews can complete set ups. Between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., vehicles will be diverted via Kendrick Street and Common Street.

At 7:00 a.m.:

1. Thru-traffic on Rt. 1A north will be detoured left on Creek Street to Franklin Street (Rt.140) and right on Franklin Street to Wrentham Center.
2. If you need to continue toward Wrentham Center, perhaps to the Post Office, banks, etc., the Police Officer at the detour will allow you through.
3. Thru-traffic on Rt. 1A south will be detoured right on Rt.140, left on Creek Street and back to out to Rt. 1A.
4. David Brown Way will be closed.
5. Kendrick street will be open throughout the day so local vehicles can circumvent the closed section of Rt. 1A.
6. Common Street will be open, except between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. for the 5K road race.
7. Taunton Street will have the usual road closures during the race.

NO PARKING:

1. NO PARKING in front of any of the stores in Wrentham Center and NO PARKING across from the stores along the Common.
2. NO PARKING on Bank Street, the short cut-through street next to Berkshire Hathaway.
3. NO PARKING on Common Street.

PARKING WILL BE AVAILABLE in the Center lot; Town Hall; Wrentham Court, etc.

WPD GOES OUT WITH A BANG, TAKING HOME THE TROPHY AT THE 2ND ANNUAL GUNS & HOSES SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT!

Saturday was a beautiful, sunny day of softball for WPD., starting with a sweet win over the Norfolk Fire Department. Next came Plainville F.D, They were probably hoping our players were worn down after their earlier game, but WPD played strong again, sending Plainville home with a loss, but not home for long. THEN the big one, WPD against the best Fire Department in the entire world, the WFD! It was painful handing our brothers in red a loss, but hopefully they’ll forgive us over time. FINALLY, the playoff for the Championship between WPD and the returning Plainville FD, seeking revenge! Not in the cards though as WPD took the trophy home! All in all, a great tournament for everyone, especially the kids who enjoyed the bouncy houses, foam machine and plenty of hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill!
