Presentation of the Anchor Run Streambank Restoration Revised Plan

At the Board of Supervisors Meeting on June 8th at 5PM, the Township Engineer will present the revised plan for the Anchor Run Streambank Restoration Project.

Wrightstown Township is proposing 450 linear feet of stream restoration along a tributary to Neshaminy Creek adjacent to the Anchor Run CSA off of Second Street Pike. This project is being proposed to meet the requirements of the Township’s stormwater permit with the Department of Environmental Protection. After presenting the proposed project at a public meeting, some residents and the Environmental Advisory Committee raised some concerns about the impact of the project on the existing trees along the stream.

The Board of Supervisors asked that it be determined if the project could be modified to address the concerns that were raised. Modifications were proposed to the Department of Environmental Protection that would reduce the impact to existing trees and slopes along the stream channel but continue to provide the benefits required for the reduction of sediment and nutrients in the stream. The proposed modifications were approved and revised plans has been prepared that allow the Township to meet its permit requirement and reduce the impact as requested by the residents.

At the May 18, 2026, Board of Supervisors meeting, we were honored to welcome David Sanko, Executive Director for the PA State Association of Township Supervisors (PSATS) for two special presentations.
The Township was honored to have PSATS Youth Award Winners, Avi Abrol and Dillon Lind, local high school students who have created STEMStrong to teach children in Bensalem, Warminster and Wrightstown Townships about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to attend the Board Meeting for the award presentation. As winners of this award, the group received a $500 cash prize and a framed certificate.

Here is a description of their project:
“We founded an ongoing and growing STEM education program called StemStrong. We target elementary school kids, with a focus on kids in underserved areas. When we first started this over a year ago, we contacted various locations we felt would benefit from our initiative. Once we had locations and dates in place, we created a variety of short presentations on STEM concepts such as how does a paper airplane fly, how does a catapult work, etc. using online resources. After our presentations, the kids build their own project based on what they learned, and we help them as needed. Then the kids engage in a friendly competition to see who's design worked best. We award certificates of participation as well as stickers for the competition winners. The kids have a great time learning and actively participating.” For more information about their project, please visit www.Stemstrong.org

Congratulations Avi and Dillon!

In addition, the Board of Supervisors approved a resolution, that in honor of the 250th Anniversary of the United States, that approves the Pennsylvania Local Government Bill of Rights that was presented at the PSATS Conference in April. Celebrate National Public Works Week from May 17th-23rd!

This year's theme, “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community” acknowledges that the roots of service run deep in public works. It’s what has propelled public works innovations that have helped our communities evolve into places where people can lead lives of purpose and possibility. Together, these efforts form the foundation of thriving communities, reminding us that every project, seen or unseen, powers the connection between service and the people it supports.

Wrightstown Township is incredibly lucky to have a small but mighty team made up of Dave James, John Bailey, and Brian Young. Our community is very thankful for their dedicated service that they provide, and you can see their hard work all across our community including various drainage projects, keeping our facilities maintained, making sure the roadways are maintained all year long and plowed during the winter. This is a short list of everything that they take care of. The pride they take in their work is shown every day!

Thank you to Dave, John, and Brian for everything they do to keep our community running smoothly!
