Our 2026 Wrightsville Fire Department Golf Tournament is officially FULL! Thank you to everyone who registered a team and continues to support the Wrightsville Fire Department.

But the fun doesn't stop when the golf ends… 👀

**WATER RESCUE TECHNICIAN**

This past weekend, Fireman Joshua Seibert, Fireman Jakob Thomas, and Lieutenant Colton Yingling completed the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission Water Rescue Advanced Line Systems Rescue curriculum. The students reviewed water rescue equipment, completed a timed 200 yard swim, victim rescue, self rescue, moveable control points (MCP’s), and use of the ASR-155. The course, also consisting of members from Dover Township, Middletown, and Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Company traveled to Flat Rock Dam to complete the practical portion of the course in real world conditions.

With these members completing certification, we are proud to announce that our Department now has over 20 rostered members certified at the Technician level for swift water rescue! This is a significant investment from and for our members, our Eastern York community and our mutual aide partners county-wide.

🌪️Company 41 Responds to EF-2 Tornado🌪️

On Thursday afternoon as a severe storm moved through the first due, Engine 41 was alerted for a fire alarm at the Eastern York High School in Company 13-3’s (SAFER) area. Just prior to our response, staffing members received a report from a member that lives in the area of a tornado on the ground in the area of the High School.

Engine 41, Rescue 41-1 and Chief 41 responded immediately and arrived simultaneously with units from Company 13-3. Crews found the High School to be severely damaged, along with the adjacent housing development across the street. The incident was upgraded to a Structure Collapse bringing resources from all across York County, including our sister stations from the York County ATR.

Chief 41 initially established the “High School Command” and then functioned as a part of unified command in the County Mobile Command Unit (MCU 91). Approximately fifty (50) student athletes and faculty were found to be occupying/sheltering in the gymnasium of the school when the tornado occurred and were safely evacuated with no injuries being reported. Initial Special Operations members (SOC) aboard Company 41 were sent to the most severely damaged portions of the building to complete primary searches and evacuations. Several “off-duty” SOC members reported to the scene and completed secondary searches and building stability evaluations, while our home responders reported to the station to backfill and handle the numerous other storm related incidents. At the height of the event, Company 41 had more than 25 personnel operating for more than 2.5 hours.

Late Friday evening, the National Weather Service released their report confirming that an EF-2 tornado started in Hellam Township on Vista Lane and traveled into Lower Windsor Township producing 120 MPH winds, 100 yards wide, traveling just over a mile.

Last week, Engine 41 assisted Iron Ridge Fire Rescue with a vehicle fire on the Wrights Ferry Bridge (US Route 30). The Engine Company stretched the Bumper Line and extinguished an engine compartment.

On Sunday afternoon, the Engine Company provided coverage to Southern Area Fire and Emergency Rescue while their members celebrated the merger completion of Goodwill Fire Company & SAFER. Shortly after arriving at Station 13-4, Engine 41 was sent as the Rapid Intervention Team to North Hopewell Township for a working barn fire. The Engine operated for several hours completing numerous tasks before returning.

The Volunteers handled over 20 additional incidents throughout the weekend. Some of the incidents include water rescues from flash flooding due to severe storms and 2 additional Box Alarms.

Congratulations to the members of Goodwill Fire and now SAFER on the successful merger process after many months of hard work.

**MEMBER ACCOMPLISHMENT**

Congratulations to Squadman Alan “AJ” McCarty on his recent swearing in as a career fireman with the Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Fire. He will now begin their 6 week in-house fire academy before getting assigned to his shift.

AJ came to Wrightsville as a Junior Member in 2017, before becoming a Live-In Member in 2019. He joins the long list of Wrightsville members who have gone onto become career firemen, both locally and across the Country. AJ currently serves in roles as a steering committee member for the York County ATR and an aid to the Fire Chief’s office.

Members spent Friday morning at the Wrightsville Assembly of God for a show and tell event. Children were able to tour the apparatus, check out our equipment and review fire safety tips with the firemen.
