EYHS SENIOR SUNRISE

It may have been a little delayed due to some unexpected weather before the start of the school year, but we were excited to see a group of our Eastern York High School seniors gather together for a beautiful sunrise at the high school this morning!

A special thank you to Shanika from The Nutrition Group for providing some great breakfast items and helping make this special senior tradition even better. It's a great DAY to be a KNIGHT!

A Few More Moments from Our Staff Kickoff Last Week...

Before we officially welcomed students back for another school year, our staff found plenty of ways to come together, help one another, and have a little fun along the way!

From our Canadochly staff carpooling to the max to help with limited parking at the middle school, to math teachers cooking up a great breakfast for their colleagues, to our middle school staff preparing lunch for the high school, there were plenty of examples of a community making the most of a difficult start.

Just a few more snapshots of the people who make Eastern York such a special place.

EYSD UPDATE (8/28): EASTERN YORK HIGH SCHOOL TO RETURN TO IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION ON MONDAY, AUGUST 31ST

The Eastern York School District is pleased to announce that Eastern York High School will return to in-person instruction on Monday, August 31, 2026, following extensive efforts to restore and prepare the building after the recent tornado event. Lower Windsor Township has authorized the temporary occupancy/use of Eastern York HS. The term “temporary occupancy” is used because construction remains active in portions of the building. This is a standard step to ensure the areas currently in use have been inspected, approved, and deemed safe for students and staff while repairs and construction continue in other areas of the building.

The return to the high school marks an important milestone for the Eastern York community. Over the past week, administrators, faculty and staff, construction and restoration crews, engineers, and community partners have worked together to make the necessary repairs and ensure that the school is ready to welcome students and staff back. It’s a great DAY to be a KNIGHT!

BEHIND THE ARMOR: Tyler Hott
While most students were enjoying the final days of summer, Tyler Hott, Eastern York High School Class of 2028, got up a little early and volunteered to suit up as our Golden Knight to help welcome staff back for the new school year on Tuesday morning. Tyler brought the high fives, waves, and Golden Knight pride as our staff arrived, helping us kick off the year on a positive note.

Thank you, Tyler, for being willing to do a little extra for Eastern York. It’s a GREAT DAY to be a KNIGHT!

🎉 Welcome to Wrightsville Elementary, Mr. Konieczny!

We are excited to officially welcome Chris Konieczny as the new principal of Wrightsville Elementary! Mr. Konieczny was approved by the Board of School Directors last week, and today he gets to begin this new chapter alongside our students on the first day of school.

We are excited for the leadership, energy, and care he will bring to Wrightsville and look forward to a great year ahead for our students, staff, and families.

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Konieczny to the Golden Knight family!

IT'S STILL A GREAT DAY TO BE A KNIGHT!
After adjusting our original opening day plans, we were proud to officially welcome back our entire Eastern York staff this morning with a special gathering at the middle school!

It was a great morning to welcome our newest Golden Knights, recognize staff members for their years of dedicated service, and come together as one team as we prepare for another great year serving the students and families of Eastern York.

The past few days may have changed our plans, but they certainly haven’t changed who we are or what we’re here to do. It’s a GREAT DAY to be a Golden Knight!

Eastern York Update (8/24): After consulting with our restoration crews and several agencies to evaluate the damage and determine the safest path forward, Eastern York High School will begin the school year with remote instruction Wednesday through Friday (August 26–28). Again, this is for Eastern York High School students only. We will continue to evaluate the progress at the high school throughout the week and reassess the situation on Friday to determine our next steps.

This is certainly not the way we envisioned beginning our school year, but we appreciate the patience and support of our students, families, and staff as we work toward safely returning everyone to the high school as soon as possible.

Eastern York Update:

We would like to thank the many community members, neighboring school districts, organizations, and others who have reached out to offer support following last evening’s storm. Everyone’s generosity is greatly appreciated. Most importantly, we are incredibly thankful that no one was injured on our high school campus.

District administration continues to work with several agencies to assess the damage and determine next steps. Crews worked well into the night and are back on site today, making progress with cleanup and restoration.

We continue to ask everyone to please stay off the high school campus and respect all cones and barriers. This will allow crews to work safely and without interruption.

We will share updates as more information becomes available. Thank you again for the tremendous support and generosity of our wonderful community.
