Ever wonder how I get ideas on where I get our parks from?? The best answer is easy- I use Google maps. 😂😂 I follow several pages (probably more than several lol) that list fun, low cost things to do with kids, I ask when I see someone mention when they go to a park and it looks interesting, but the biggest thing I do is zone in on one area and look for parks... so far i have over 200 saved! And if i shared the list of places i wanted to go nationwide... well let's just say it's much closer, if not over, 1000! I read reviews, look at pictures, and decide if it'd be worth stopping at if we are ever in the area. We are located 15 minutes south of Detroit and if you didn't know, Michigan is a huge state, taking 12+hours to get from the southeast corner to the tip of the upper peninsula, or furthest western point. But I have made it a point to visit as much of this gorgeous state as possible and that includes visiting parks all over! If you'd like to see what parks I have saved, I am sharing my list. If you know of a park you LOVE that isn't listed, in Michigan or otherwise, I'd love for you to share so I can save it! My ultimate goal is to travel the country with my kids, even if it takes me 20 years to do so, and I'm always looking for the best places to go. Indoors is great, but I REALLY love exploring outside. Mountains, waterfalls, lakes, rock formations, state and national parks.... and of course new playgrounds. :p

Here's a small snippet of what we've done this year. Please share all the pictures of you would like, too!! I'm a visual learner and seeing new places gives me an idea if it's somewhere that would be fun for us. ♥️♥️♥️

Park #39 is actually a school park, Randolph Elementary in Livonia. We were leaving Castle Gardens Park and saw it and decided to stop and play! Not many pictures as I don't know what happened to them but I'll make sure to add more when I look on my camera. ;) no picnic tables, pavilion, or bathrooms as it's at a school, but the 2 huge parks, 2 spider webs, and 2 merry go rounds were a blast! My kids were jealous they didn't have such awesome parks at their own school lol.

It was opening day at Greenfield Village this weekend!!! We were there on Friday for members only day and it was such a great time! Weather was perfect (sooo much better than last years rainy, freezing mess) and it was busy but not overcrowded. My kids were so happy to be back in their happy place, playing at the park and enjoying the rides. If you've been, what's your favorite part of the village?

If you've never been, it's a definite must see!! Rides on original model t's, 1900s steam powered engines (and a pretty awesome diesel, too), horse drawn carriages, a carousel (we didn't make it on a ride Friday. That was one line I wasn't waiting in lol), and of course we can't forget the famous custard! Weekly flavors were strawberry and peanut butter and they were AMAZING.

Park #38, castle gardens Park in Livonia. This park was so cool, especially for a residential Park. We were SO EXCITED to find equipment like a Park we had visited in grand rapids (the giant slide). The slide itself is not toddler friendly as you have to climb ropes in order to get to the top. However, there is a fun toddler sized park and, of course, swings. ❤️❤️ my kids are all about rope climbing though so between the slide and the rope equipment, they could've stayed for hours! There were a few picnic tables, but unfortunately no bathrooms. We prefer these parks though, they're less busy and they can play more freely.

Park #37, Greenwood Park in Livonia! Cute little park in a residential area. No bathrooms, but there are a few picnic tables. My kids loved the fire truck the most, of course. 😂😂 they seem to love these smaller parks the most, and I think it's because they're alone and have free reign of the park lol. They rely enjoyed this one.

Park #36, Waterford Bend Playground in Northville. This was on my list, but I decided against it originally when we went out for the day.. but then as we were driving by I had a couple kids to stop, so back on my list it went. 😂😂 they love anything rope climbing, which is why it was originally on my list. This is the same piece equipment that is at their favorite park, Sullivan Park in Royal Oak. It is small, but there's a few trails to check out nearby (see the bridge picture lol). There was a pavilion with tables, and there are bathrooms but they were closed and I'm unsure if they open during the busier season. Overall they loved this park as a secondary hangout, just not sure we'd go out of our way to visit only this park again.

Park #35, Ella Mae Power Park in Novi. This park was really cool and big! There is a bathroom near the baseball fields, but they're still closed. Lots of sitting areas and picnic tables. They could've stayed and played much longer with a much as there was to do.

We went on a HUGE adventure Thursday night!! At 6pm, we drove 3 hours north to the Port Austin area at the tip of the thumb in hopes of catching lady Aurora. We arrived at the first park and while we saw her beauty, she was not vibrant and there was a pesky street light close by, ruining the photos. We packed up and headed a few minutes down the road, where the parking lot was close to the beach and the road but no street lights. Again, she wasn't quite vibrant, so I decided to try the dark sky park at Port crescent state park. Unfortunately the road to the park was closed, but while pulling in I saw pillars of light in the sky and knew she was getting ready to dance for us, so we headed back to the second beach we were at... as we got out of the van and set up, she EXPLODED in front and above us. It was the most magical and amazing moment I've witnessed, and it was even better because I had 5 of my children with me and they got to experience the wonder, as well. Though this was the second time I've seen her dance, this was the fist time I was truly blown away. The colors, the way the sky looked to be on fire from movement, the energy, all of it was spectacular. If you haven't seen her yet, it is a must see at least once in your life. Get outside and enjoy the chase! ❤️❤️❤️
