Today marks the anniversary of the Indian Citizenship Act, signed into law on June 2, 1924. This landmark legislation granted U.S. citizenship to Native Americans born in the United States, recognizing rights that Indigenous peoples had long been denied.

As we reflect on this important moment in history, we also remember that citizenship did not immediately guarantee equal treatment or voting rights for many Native people. The journey toward full recognition and self-determination continues today.

We honor the generations who fought for these rights and remain committed to protecting the sovereignty, cultures, and futures of Tribal Nations.
