They helped us move a dozen big piles of brush debris off the main grounds to the curb at Wylie Cemetery.

Y’all were truly a blessing to us today!! We cannot thank you enough for giving up your Saturday morning and sweating along side us to get this brush moved!

Today we were able to place our first 12 Small Granite Markers as we strive to make sure every person has more than the Temporary marker placed at time of burial.

We know there is so much the families are going through with the loss of a loved one and it’s extremely important to make sure a “Permanent” marker is placed within 6 months.

Temporary markers are not made to withstand long periods of time, they can sink underground, be damaged by mowers or just deteriorate over time.

If your loved one still has a “Temporary” burial marker please reach out to us via phone
call or email for options. ❤️

More markers will be placed in the coming days.

Video obtained of Trespassers will be turned over to the Wylie Police Department.

Violation of Cemetery Rules will not be tolerated.

🚨🚨We are installing our new columbariums today at Wylie and Hughes/Kreymer cemeteries. During the installation of these structures, we will have the gates locked. This is just to ensure everybody’s safety so please bear with us.🚨🚨

All Non Burial needs will be address when we reopen on Tuesday the 18th.

Funeral Home will be able to reach someone if there is a need and phone messages & emails will be returned on the 18th.

Thank you for your understanding as we give our Volunteer Board time off.

Her daughter’s story is MY story! Today as I was getting ready to end a work day on the grounds at Wylie a gentleman stopped me.

“My wife’s mother is buried here but we can’t seem to find her marker.”

I ask him for her name and went to search the records and maps.

Without going row by row I had no luck with the maps so back to the grounds to help by walking the grounds!

With the daughter were her two daughters born after her mother had passed, so it was extremely important to find Mother & Grandmother.

Finally, our Board Vice President Vickie Turner yelled out “I found her”…. The daughter cried as she FaceTimed her brother to let him know Mom was found, and the mother introduced the granddaughters to their grandmother.

30 years ago “l” walked into an old cemetery with a death certificate of my GreatGrandfather simply trying to find family…he wasn’t found that day but eventually I was able to locate his burial.

Our Ancestors are our window to the past…it’s the answer to what our families went through for us to be born…

That’s why Genealogy is important, that’s why the search is important!
