Did you know Wylie has been known as "Wide Awake Wylie" for more than a century?

The nickname dates back to the late 1800s and early 1900s when Wylie was a thriving railroad and agricultural community. While many neighboring towns struggled, Wylie earned a reputation for being active, progressive, and full of civic pride. Local residents embraced the slogan "Wide Awake Wylie" to showcase the town's energy, growth, and forward-thinking spirit.

More than 100 years later, that same community pride and enthusiasm can still be seen throughout Wylie today.

Planning to attend Wylie's 4th of July Fireworks Celebration?

Here's your quick guide before you go!
Join the fun on Friday, July 3, at Founders Park. Festivities begin at 7:30 PM with live music, food trucks, bounce houses, family activities, and more. The fireworks show starts around 9:45 PM.

Bring lawn chairs, blankets, water, sunscreen, and bug spray, and arrive early for the best parking and viewing spots. Parking is available at Founders Park, Wylie High School, Cooper Junior High, and Draper Intermediate.

It's a free event and one of Wylie's favorite summer traditions. We can't wait to celebrate with you!

Bridal Era on Ballard Avenue: Taylor’s Version is coming to Historic Downtown Wylie on Saturday, June 27 from 10 AM – 4 PM, and you won’t want to miss this one.

Grab your besties and spend the day shopping small, making memories, and celebrating all things bridal with themed experiences up and down Ballard Avenue. From bouquet bars and candle pouring to friendship bracelets, mimosa stops, photo ops, and more!

Participating shops across Downtown Wylie will be joining in on the fun, so come dressed up, sing loud, and celebrate your bridal era in style.

What an incredible day in Downtown Wylie!

From amazing live music and classic cars to arts and crafts vendors, great food, and thousands of smiling faces, Bluegrass on Ballard was one for the books!

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, performed, sponsored, and helped make this event such a success.

Events like these are what make Wylie such a special place to live, work, and visit.

A few weeks ago, Downtown Wylie was full of incredible food, community spirit, and lots of smiling faces at Taste of Wylie.

This annual event brought together amazing local restaurants, vendors, and community members for a day full of flavor — all while supporting local food pantries. From sweet treats to savory favorites, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you to everyone who attended and to all of the restaurants and vendors who helped make the event such a success. What a great reminder of how special the Wylie community truly is.
