Last evening, members of the Wynantskill Fire Department spent the night sharpening critical fireground skills through a series of hands-on evolutions. Crews operated in full PPE and SCBA while practicing hose line deployment, forcible entry, fire attack operations, accountability, and engine company functions.

These drills challenge our members physically and mentally while reinforcing the teamwork and communication that are essential on the fireground.

Whether it’s 2 PM or 2 AM, our goal remains the same: be ready when our community needs us most.

⚠️ TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE ⚠️
As of June 11, 2026 at 3:15 PM

Pershing Avenue is currently closed between Route 150 (West Sand Lake Road) and Peck Road due to a downed tree and wires across the roadway.

Please avoid the area and seek alternate routes while emergency crews and utility personnel work to make repairs.

⚡ Reminder: Always stay away from downed wires. Assume all wires are energized and dangerous. Never attempt to drive over, move, or approach them.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as crews work to restore normal traffic flow.

🚒 Drill Night at Wynantskill Fire Department 🚒

Last night, our members took part in hands-on training to sharpen the skills that help us serve our community safely and effectively.

Engine 42-7 crews focused on drafting operations, practicing water supply techniques that are critical when a hydrant is not readily available.

Meanwhile, Truck 42 crews worked on Aerial Tower Operations (ATO) and bucket operations, training on the safe and effective use of the department’s aerial apparatus.

Regular training ensures our members remain prepared for the wide variety of emergencies we may face. Thank you to all of our volunteers who continue to dedicate their time to learning and improving their skills.

Today, members of the Wynantskill Fire Department proudly took part in our community’s Memorial Day parade. It was a wonderful day with an incredible turnout as we came together to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

While we enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces throughout the day, we also pause to reflect on what Memorial Day is truly about — remembering those who gave everything in service to our nation.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support today’s events. 🇺🇸
