David Contosta, Ph.D. is Professor of History and Former Chair of the History Department at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia. He is the author of 28 books that include publications of national, international, and regional interest local to Philadelphia, including: “Suburb in the City: Chestnut Hill Philadelphia;” “A Philadelphia Family: The Houston’s and Woodwards of Chestnut Hill; “Metropolitan Paradise: Philadelphia’s Wissahickon Valley,” written with Carol Franklin; and “Philadelphia’s Progressive Orphanage: The Carson Valley School.”
