The company is sad to announce the passing of Life Member Henry "Mickey" Mick on October 5th, 2026. Mickey was one of those guys who always made you laugh and brought tremendous energy to the room he entered. You always heard him before you saw him. The company sends their condolences to all of Mickey's family and friends, especially his son and fellow life member John Mick.

Engine 21 responded to a tree on fire this afternoon. Upon arrival we found a downed electrical line as the cause. Remember to never approach any downed electrical wires, call 911 and keep a safe distance.

Last night, our firefighters, along with Belmont Hills Fire Company, Narberth Ambulance, and Lower Merion Police Department conducted a multicompany vehicle rescue demonstration.

Afterwards, we took part in a multicompany fire suppression demonstration, which included Merion Fire Company of ArdmoreNarberth Fire Company,
Union Fire Association Gladwyne Volunteer Fire Company Bryn Mawr Fire Company Lower Merion Fire Department

These demonstrations and drills ensure we all remain in lockstep when serving our community.

Today, we pause to remember the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

We remember the victims, traveling, going to work, and living lives that were taken from us too soon. We remember the first responders, running into the buildings and field to help get people out. We remember the heroes who gave their lives to save others, making the ultimate sacrifice.

In tragedies like 9/11, we remind you to take a breath and think about what Fred Rogers said:

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”

There are thousands of helpers. Their good, the good embodied by those first responders on 9/11, will always be seen.

Busy 24 hours. Started off at 5:55am yesterday with a vehicle rescue dispatch on an accident in Bala Cynwyd which ended up with no entrapment. Over lunch time, the engine responded as RIT to assist Merion Fire Co. of Ardmore as part of a multi-company building dispatch which turned out to be a cooking fire. Last night, members turned out for our weekly drill and conducted several live fire and search and rescue evolutions at our training grounds. We no sooner cleaned up from drill and responded to Rosemont on an accident with entrapment where Rescue 21 worked alongside Squad 23 to free a trapped occupant. Once home and as members were falling asleep, we were dispatched to City and Lancaster for a vehicle accident with reported fire. The accident was on the Philly side and we were recalled by police.
