*Notice from American Water*

"This is an important notification from Pennsylvania American Water. Our crews will begin routine flushing of the water distribution system in your area 06/01/26 at 8 am through 06/05/26 at 6 pm to provide you with high-quality water service. Flushing in your area will occur between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm. Flushing also allows us to test and maintain fire hydrants. When crews are working in your area, you may notice reduced pressure or discolored water. If your water is discolored, run the cold water taps only, at the lowest level of the house for about 3 to 5 minutes until the water runs clear. If discolored water occurs please also refrain from doing laundry during that time. In keeping with American Water’s focus on safety for both customers and employees, please do not approach our crews while they work. HOLIDAY TRASH SCHEDULE UPDATE

In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, there will be a one-day delay for waste collection services next week.

🚛 Thursday, May 28th regular pickups will take place on Friday, May 29th instead.

Please ensure your bins are placed curbside Thursday night ensure collection.
All other service days will run on their normal schedule.

🦟 Luzerne Conservation District just dropped their Spring 2026 Mosquito Newsletter! ☀️

Since the weather warmed up so early this year, their crew has been out since April doing large-scale treatments on about 17 acres of flooded areas to stop mosquitoes before they even hatch.

Here is a quick look at what's inside the full 2-page issue:

👋 Meet the 2026 Team: Say hello to the county's vector control crew; Lauren, Julia, and Logan.

🚚 Upgraded Gear: They purchased a second truck sprayer so they can cover twice as much ground on nights when mosquito numbers spike.

🛞 Community Cleanups: A massive shoutout to the 30+ volunteers who helped pull 120 dumped tires and 60 bags of trash out of Hanover Township, wiping out a major stagnant water breeding spot.

🎒 Education in the Parks: The team taught 500 local students at Nesbitt Park about vector safety (and used poppy seeds to show just how tiny deer tick nymphs really are!).

As spring clean-up and moving season begins, many residents are renting dumpsters or planning moves. We would like to share a quick, friendly reminder regarding dumpster and moving POD placement to keep our streets safe and clear.

🌷If your dumpster or POD will be parked on the road, a permit is required.

🌻Cost: $25 (valid for 30 days from the issuance date).

**Driveways: If the container fits entirely within your private driveway, no permit is needed.

Permits can be purchased two ways:

-Online: Visit wyomingpa.org (please note a standard processing fee applies).
-In Person: Stop by the Borough Building at 277 Wyoming Ave, Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
