It’s the last Friday of the month! Welcome to our latest installment of Firetruck Fridays! Today, we feature Tanker 52. Tanker 52 is a 2010 Kenworth T370, custom-built by Deep South. It has a 2000-gallon water tank with a 500 gpm pump. It has the capability to “pump and roll,” meaning it can discharge water from its pump while the vehicle is in motion. Very useful with small grass/field fires.

As you "spring forward" on March 8, 2026, the NFPA recommends replacing smoke alarm batteries to ensure they function properly. Over 70% of failures are due to dead, missing, or disconnected batteries. Test all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors monthly and replace the entire unit if it is over 10 years old.

Welcome to “Firetruck Fridays’. This segment will highlight the individual pieces of apparatus used by XTFD. All you ever wanted to know but maybe were afraid to ask!
Kicking off our series is Tanker 51, affectionately referred to as the “Milk Truck” due to her stainless-steel tank. This workhorse, also known as a water tender, depending on the region, will haul 1500 gallons of water to areas without hydrants. Typically, a drop tank is deployed, and the water is dumped for the engine to draft.
Toting that 1500-gallon tank is a 2000 International 4900. It is also worth noting that this tank is on its second chassis. Yes, she is older than a few of our members! (but not THE oldest!)
Stay tuned for the next installment of “Firetruck Fridays”!
