Greene Soil and Water Conservation District The Greene Soil & Water Conservation District connects the rural and urban cooperators.

Soil and Water Conservation Districts were established nationwide as a grassroots effort to partner with federally funded programs established to control soil erosion brought to attenetion during the dust bowl. Our district was established in 1944 to serve all 269,440 acres of Greene County, Ohio, directed by a board of five publicly elected supervisors. We provide the community many serivces incl

uding but not limited too:

* Urban and rural water quality and erosion control technical assistance
* Conservation education (pre-Kindergarten to Adult)
* Land use planning
* Forestry and wildlife management
* Drainage information and design
* Soils, flood pains, and aerial maps

The district is funded by the Greene County Commisioners, the State of Ohio, the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), the Soil and Water Conservation Commission, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and the Ohio Department of Agriculture. Hours: Subject to change pending scheduling due to small staff size and field work.

Calling all nature explorers and future environmental scientists! Join Little Miami Watershed Network and Greene County Soil and Water Conservation District this summer 9:00 a.m.–Noon at Camp Greene for a hands-on camp designed just for kids that want to have fun and learn all about the natural world that the Little Miami River supports! Discover wildlife up close (safely), investigate water from the river, hike trails, and build outdoor skills through fun games and nature adventures.

Every camper gets a Naturalist Explorer Bag to take home—packed with books, field guides, gear and tools to keep the adventure going all summer and beyond. Counselors and games will be Project WILD and WET certified. Jr Naturalist Camp is also supported in partnership with Glen Helen and the “The Nick and Edna Weller Charities, Inc.”

Tomorrow! Over 400 seedlings to be given away on a first come, first served basis starting at noon. Everyone is welcome to take 2. White Flowering Dogwood, Redbud, White Fringetree, Pawpaw and Emerald Green Arborvitae. We’ll be outside in the beer garden.
In celebration of Arbeer Day, Devil Wind will be serving up 4 different beers flavored with local maple syrup. Plus I heard a rumor that they’ll have maple old fashioned cocktails.

H2Ohio producers in the 64-county statewide project area can now reenroll in and continue implementing best management practices.

Eligible BMP incentives include VNMPs and overwintering cover crops.
