Please have all materials at the curb the night before your scheduled collection day.

Offices will reopen on Tuesday, September 8, during regular business hours.

Today, we recognized Public Service employees Josh Corn, Michael Butler and Nicholas Saettel for their actions during a serious workplace accident on August 4.

While performing street maintenance, their coworker was seriously injured when a concrete saw blade caught his work pants and caused a severe injury to his leg. Joshua immediately called 911 and alerted leadership, while Michael and Nicholas rushed to Brent’s side, using their own work shirts as makeshift tourniquets and applying pressure to control the bleeding until emergency crews arrived.

We are grateful for the way they stepped up when it mattered most!

Construction will be starting or continuing on several projects in Xenia in the coming weeks. Please be aware of upcoming work, parking restrictions, and traffic impacts.

2026 Street Program:

John R. Jurgensen Company will begin posting streets for “No Parking” on September 8, starting in the Sterling Green Subdivision and moving east as the project progresses. Milling will begin September 9 and continue through the week of September 14. Paving will begin the week of September 14 and continue through the week of September 21. A pavement rejuvenator contractor will follow the week of September 28.

King St. Water Main Project:

Insituform will begin repairing several manholes along King St. on September 8. Milcon Concrete Inc. will mobilize to King St. on September 8 and plans to begin replacing the storm and water mains the week of September 14. The project is expected to continue through spring 2027.

Due to the heat advisory, Rumpke will be starting collection routes earlier than usual this week to help crews beat the heat.

Residents are encouraged to set out their collection items the night before their scheduled service day to ensure they are ready for pickup.

The City of Xenia is testing a new traffic calming layout on Bellbrook Avenue between US-35 and Industrial Boulevard to help reduce speeding and improve safety along the corridor.

Traffic cones have been used to test different configurations over the past several weeks. Because the initial layout has not significantly reduced vehicle speeds, a new layout will be tested beginning the week of August 31.

The new configuration will create narrowed “chokepoints” at four locations along Bellbrook Avenue, allowing traffic to pass while encouraging drivers to slow down.

The City will monitor vehicle speeds and gather feedback to determine whether the approach is effective. Depending on the results, the City may replace the cones with removable concrete curb blocks or return the roadway to its existing configuration.

Residents and business owners along the corridor can contact the City’s Planning and Zoning Division with questions or feedback.
