🎒💛 Building Connections in Our Community!

Yesterday, our Assessment Service Coordinator, Tayler Hallam and our Family Engagement Mentor, Cassie Ewing, joined our community partners at Family Promise’s Back-to-School Event!

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to connect with families, strengthen relationships with our community partners, and show up for the youth we serve. Because strong communities start with strong connections. 🤝

At the Greene County Juvenile Court Assessment Center, we believe the best way to support youth and families is by continually investing in our people.

This summer, our Probation, Assessment, and Intervention teams came together for professional development focused on strengthening the skills that help us build relationships, reduce barriers, and create positive outcomes for the youth we serve.

Our team completed training in:
✔️ Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
✔️ ROCA Rewire
✔️ Motivational Interviewing (MI)
✔️ Handle With Care

These evidence-based and trauma-informed practices provide practical tools to better understand behavior, communicate effectively, build trust, and respond to youth and families with compassion and purpose.

No matter our role, we share one common goal: helping young people and families navigate challenges, recognize their strengths, and connect with the resources they need to be successful.

We’re grateful for a team that is committed to learning, growing, and showing up each day ready to make a difference in the lives of Greene County’s youth and families!

Our Evening Reporting & Intervention Center (ERIP) staff and youth got to go on a field trip, to celebrate all of the daily small wins, in a big way! Escape room and lunch are always a good time.

XCS families, it’s time to look ahead to August and finish the summer strong! We want to ensure every student walks into our schools on Day One feeling confident, prepared, and on a level playing field.

If your family needs support with school supplies for the upcoming year, our Gear Up! event is here for you.

The ✨Fun✨ Part:
This isn't just a pickup line! Students will get to "shop" for their own supplies. They can choose their own backpack and pick from available color options for items on their specific school list. Note that backpack styles and color choices are first-come, first-served while supplies last.

📅 Event Date: Wednesday, July 22 (pick-up time assigned after registration)
📍 Location: XCS Central Office (829 Colorado Drive)
⚠️ DEADLINE TO REGISTER: Monday, July 20

🛑 Important: Pre-registration is required so we can customize supplies by grade and school list. We cannot accommodate drop-ins!

Rewarding positive choices, building confidence, and making memories! Our youth earned a karaoke celebration last week after an awesome week of hard work and growth. We love seeing smiles, laughter, and encouragement fill the room.

Maybe we will incorporate, “Karaoke Thursdays?”
