✨ Learning from Dolly Parton! ✨

Mrs. Davis’s 1st–2nd grade combo class decided to do a little research on the one and only Dolly Parton!🎶📚

Students listened to a biography about Dolly and read Coat of Many Colors to learn more about her childhood and the experiences that helped shape who she became. They also talked about the important lessons we can learn from Dolly’s life.

Our students decided that Dolly taught them to:
💜 Chase your dreams
📚 Never stop learning
❤️ You can be rich with love
🌟 Always remember where you came from

Students organized their research using a bubble map and then turned their ideas into writing. To bring their learning to life, they also created their own Dolly wearing her famous “Coat of Many Colors” using colorful collages!

What a wonderful way to combine reading, research, writing, creativity, and character lessons all in one learning experience! We love seeing our Hornets learn from someone who reminds us that big dreams can grow from humble beginnings. 🐝💜

🌈 Join in on the Color Fun! 🌈

Help our kindergarten students learn their colors by joining us for Color Days over the next couple of weeks!

If you have clothing that matches the color of the day, join in on the fun and wear it!

Let’s fill our school with lots of COLOR while helping our youngest Hornets learn! 🐝

🚗🔬 Friction in Action! 🔬🚗

Our 5th grade students got hands-on this week as they explored friction and momentum! They used toy cars to test how different materials—such as foil, bubble wrap, sandpaper, and more—affect friction resistance and the movement of the cars.

Learning science is always more fun when you can test it, observe it, and see it in action! 🧪

In Mrs. Dowell’s 5th grade science class, students were getting hands-on while front-loading the Scientific Method! Students designed and built their own penny boats and tested just how much weight each boat could hold before sinking. 🪙🌊

They made predictions, tested their designs, observed what happened, and learned from the results—all while having a little fun along the way! We love seeing our students learning by doing!

Mrs. Davis and Ms. Shore’s class had so much fun creating their “About Me”writing pieces and self-portraits! 📝🎨

Our 1st and 2nd graders used their About Me homework as an anchor chart to help them share all about themselves. We love seeing their creativity, personality, and individuality shine!
