Let me tell y’all what I said on TV:

North Carolina is tired of extremists. Voters here rejected Mark Robinson for Governor in 2024, even after Republicans from outside our state pumped money into his campaign to bail him out.

And this year? Voters sent Phil Berger—the most powerful Republican in Raleigh for over a decade—packing, even after he spent the most money that’s ever been spent on a North Carolina state senate race.

That’s a little bit of what’s been giving me hope for these midterms, folks.

Voters are done with the BS, and luckily we have a candidate who’s the real deal. Here’s what I told Alex Witt:

People know Roy Cooper as a public servant, and someone who has done right by the folks in this state that are currently being taken advantage of by folks like Michael Whatley in Washington, D.C. (who served as the RNC Chairman, a political operative his entire career, and also a big oil lobbyist).

But like I told Alex, Democrats need to work hard to get our message in front of the voters who are most impacted by Trump’s healthcare cuts and rising prices — like voters in rural Eastern North Carolina.

My name is Anderson Clayton, chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party and the youngest state party chair in the country.

𝗜’𝗺 𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿.

After a string of losses in our state in 2022, I stepped up to serve as party chair. We did the work, raised the money, and it paid off in 2024.

Our strategy helped us 𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝘅 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 (one of them by only 734 votes) and 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲.

We won not because we spent millions of dollars on consultants (we didn’t), but because we hired unionized staff who could take the time to develop relationships and help communities build long-lasting infrastructure for electing Democrats.

I’m asking you to help me out by contributing to our party, with the promise that your hard-earned money won’t be wasted on consultants or TV ads, but invested into our year-round organizing program so we can keep showing up in every community and fighting for every single vote.
