We have been getting a few calls regarding the smoke coming from the hillside near the Yakima Training Center. They do have a fire burning, but it is currently staying within established control lines. They are also burning off excess fuels in the areas that are involved with the original fire area to decrease fuel loads as the weather turns drier and hotter.

Don’t hesitate to call if you are concerned, but we are in frequent contact with YTC’s fire command getting updates on the fire. As long as the wind holds, the control lines will keep the fire in check until they can get it overhauled.

Thank you to the East Valley Community for your support of the department. Without it, tools like this tactical tender could not be purchased. This apparatus will greatly increase our firefighting capabilites on brush and wildland fires. THANK YOU!!

As we start our extended weekend, we here at the East Valley Fire Department want to thank and honor those men and women who died fighting for the freedoms we enjoy here in the United States of America.

This is not just an opportunity for us to enjoy an extra day off work, to barbecue, etc., it is a time to Remember, Honor, and Respect those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our great nation.
