Staff Pick! Tessa Schilaty, YCH Technical Marketing Manager is sharing a go-to variety inspired by lagers and her exploration into hop varieties well-suited for the beer style.

“I’ve been talking with a lot of brewers lately about what makes a hop work well in delicate lager and European beer styles, and US Saaz makes that conversation especially interesting. It has the tea-like, floral-herbal character of classic Czech Saaz, with a subtle bump of lemony citrus that gives it a fresh Pacific Northwest feel and expresses noble-hop elegance through a distinctly U.S.-grown lens." - Tessa.

Snowpack to Six-Pack: Part II. The supply of nature's reservoir directly impacts the hops in the valley floor below the mountains, and subsequently the beer in your six-pack.

Four years ago, we released Part I of Snowpack to Six-Pack, highlighting the intrinsic connection and importance of water in our industry, our community, our economy, and our eco-system. Four years later, we are heading into our fourth consecutive drought year, and water is on our minds. We are diving deeper into the pressure of water supply and how the hop and beer community are navigating the obstacles and looking to the future. Here's where we are at today:

A major portion of our water supply comes from the annual snowfall in the mountains, which feeds down into our rivers and water systems as it melts over the spring and summer months. However, we experienced warmest temperatures throughout the winter season since 1895, and extremely low levels of snowfall. Our local agriculture community is facing a daunting challenge following Winter 25-26. Since we recorded this video, the state of Washington has declared a drought season ahead of harvest 2026 with the lowest levels of snowpack in a decade.

While drought is not unexpected for our region's climate, the frequency is a concern. We are facing the realities and very present challenges of climate change.

Water is a vital source for hops and beer. How we protect it, conserve it, utilize it, and adapt to it, matters tremendously.

We are excited to share our 2025 Impact Report! 🌎 As we look forward on our corporate social responsibility journey, it is important to take a look back and track the progress we have made, the milestones and where there is room for improvement.

In this annual report we conclude our 2020-2025 goals through our Chief Commitments established five years ago and set our next benchmarks for 2030 with insights gained. We learned a lot, made significant strides, caught headwinds and overcame many challenges. All in the endeavor to be a responsible member of the community and the land which we call home!

A few highlights from the year:
☁️ Reduced our greenhouse gas emissions intensity by approximately 20% year over year, marking meaningful progress toward a carbon-lower future
💧 Conserved an estimated 10,000 gallons of water per day through the installation of our new UARAC water pump system
⚡ Achieved 98% renewable electricity energy usage across our domestic operations, helping transition our business to cleaner energy

This our 15th year of sustainability reporting and marks our third year partnering with Zevero to calculate our carbon tracking, giving us honed insights and actionable data. The commitment to sustainability is never finished, it’s a journey. One which we are grateful to be on with our farms, our employees, our customer partners.
