The Creativity Behind the Upcycled Auction

One of the most memorable parts of Hoedown for Housing each year is seeing the incredible imagination and generosity our community brings to the Upcycled Auction.

This year's collection was as unique as the many artists, makers, businesses, organizations, and supporters who contributed. From handcrafted creations and original artwork to home dΓ©cor, experiences, plants, gift cards, and one-of-a-kind treasures, every item reflected the talent, creativity, and community spirit that make Yakima County such a special place.

To the many artists, makers, businesses, organizations, and supporters who contributed items, thank you. Your willingness to share your time, talents, products, and creativity helped create an auction that was engaging, fun, and successful while supporting Habitat's mission.

A special thank you to Sue and Selma for the countless hours spent organizing, preparing, and setting up the silent auction. Their dedication, attention to detail, and hard work behind the scenes helped transform a collection of donations into an inviting and exciting auction experience for our guests.

Together, your contributions helped create opportunities for local households pursuing safe, stable homeownership. We are grateful for every donation and proud to showcase the remarkable creativity and generosity that exist throughout our community.

πŸ’™ Thank you for helping make the 2026 Hoedown for Housing Upcycled Auction a success.

Celebrating Community at Treaty Days

Our Home Build team spent the day connecting with community members at the Yakama Nation Treaty Days celebration in Toppen*sh.

Treaty Days is an important opportunity to honor history, culture, and community while bringing people together from across the region. We were grateful to be part of today's festivities, sharing information about Habitat's Home Build Program, volunteer opportunities, and ways to get involved in creating safe, stable homeownership opportunities here in Yakima County.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth to say hello, ask questions, and learn more about our work. We always appreciate the chance to connect with neighbors and community partners.

We are proud to serve households throughout Yakima County and thankful for opportunities like Treaty Days that celebrate the strength, traditions, and spirit of our community.

πŸ’™ Together, we build homes, community, and hope.

🏑 Thank You, Des Moines United Methodist Church!

We were honored to welcome our longtime friends from Des Moines Methodist Church back to the build site this week.

Since the early 1990s, members of this dedicated group have traveled to Yakima County to serve alongside Yakima Valley Partners Habitat for Humanity. Their commitment represents decades of service, thousands of volunteer hours, and a lasting investment in our community.

Each volunteer day helps move homes forward, strengthen neighborhoods, and create opportunities for local home build program participants. Just as importantly, it reflects the power of people coming together to make a difference.

During their visit, Executive Director Meloney Rosen had the opportunity to join the group for a birthday lunch celebration, share updates on Habitat's work throughout Yakima County, and thank them personally for their many years of partnership and service.

We are grateful for the energy, teamwork, and generosity this group brings year after year. Their continued partnership is a reminder that lasting change happens when people are willing to give their time and talents in service to others.

Thank you, Des Moines Methodist Church, for helping us build homes, community, and hope across Yakima County. πŸ’™
