BURN BAN IN EFFECT UNTIL APRIL 6th

Payne County Commissioners have approved a county-wide burn ban effective immediately through April 6.

Agricultural burning is still permitted, **ONLY IF** a written prescribed burn plan is in place and followed, the plan is submitted to the local fire department and kept on-site, and fire and law enforcement are notified before burning.

Important: Brush piles are not considered agricultural burns and are not permitted.

YFD was fortunate to be able to respond to assist our neighbors to the south. We’re honored to serve with the finest people in Oklahoma!

At around 3:00 pm today, our department tackled a significant fire that was spreading quickly in the Harmony and Fairlawn area. Thankfully, our efforts, supported by numerous agencies, ensured that no structures were lost or put in danger. We appreciate the collaboration and assistance from Payne County Emergency Management, Cushing Emergency Management, Stillwater FD, Ripley FD, Ingalls FD, Drumright FD, Stroud FD, Agra FD, Glencoe FD, Pawnee FD, NE Lincoln County FD, Bureau of Land Management units from Oregon, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Saginaw Chippewa and Bay Mills Indian Community from Michigan, Oklahoma Forestry, and Payne County District 1. Their collective support, particularly the late-night arrival of heavy equipment, was crucial in stopping the fire's spread. We are grateful for their professionalism and dedication.

ATTENTION YALE AREA RESIDENTS

On Saturday 2/28, Glencoe FD among other agencies will be doing a large control burn along the NW corner of HWY 51 & Quay Rd in Yale.

There will be multiple agencies assisting with this burn.
