Caswell County Senior Center

Caswell County Senior Center The Caswell Senior Center is a one stop department for individuals 55 years and above. A computer room is also located within the center.

The Senior Center provides a variety of workshops, activities, and events designed with our seniors in mind - health classes and screenings, medication management, Alzheimer's information, painting, beading, crochet, and basket classes as well as local and longer distance trips. Onsite there is a fitness facility that includes several treadmills, recumbent bikes, a nu-step and a variety of machine

and free weights. The Senior Clef Choir and Gadabouts call the Senior Center home. The Caswell Senior Center is the only congregate meal site in the county and is the hub of the Meals on Wheels Program. Meals, catered by Golden Corral, are served onsite and delivered by volunteers to homes of housebound seniors on weekdays. Volunteers are always needed to help deliver meals. Applications can now be filled out online if you would like to volunteer. (https://caswell.municipalcms.com/docview.aspx?docid=18694)
Medical transportation is offered through the Senior Center in Cooperation with the Caswell Area Transportation Services Department (CATS). The Caregiver program provides information and support to those caring for individuals 60 and older. A monthly support group, annual health fair, and Candlelight Vigil in honor of individuals affected by Dementia are just a few of the services available. As a designated SHIIP site, the Senior Center offers assistance with Medicare enrollment and insurance questions.

September is Su***de Awareness Month. πŸ’œ

Did you know that su***de was responsible for 48,824 deaths in the United States in 2024, the most recent national data available from the CDC?

Mental health challenges are also common among older adults. It is estimated that about 20% of adults age 55 and older experience some type of mental health concern, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, or other mental health disorders.

Always remember that you never know what someone may be going through. A kind word, a smile, holding the door open, or simply taking a moment to check on someone can make a world of difference. Let's work together to spread kindness, compassion, and understanding, not just this month, but every day.

If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available. Call or text 988 anytime to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.
