We’re asking our community to support 𝐋𝐃 𝟐𝟏𝟒𝟏, a proposed bill that would dedicate $𝟐 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 to the 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝 at the Maine DEP. This funding supports essential lake monitoring, protection, and restoration work across Maine.

Importantly, this funding would come from unredeemed 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐬, currently held by the bottling industry, meaning 𝐧𝐨 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐚𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬.

We are excited to launch our first ever Challenge Grant to support our work with lake associations, volunteers, and advocates on behalf of Maine's 6,000 lakes and ponds. We bring strong lake protection policies to Augusta and implement on-the-ground LakeSmart practices on lakes around the state, helping keep lakes clean, clear and blue for generations of Mainers to come. Join the Clean Lakes Challenge TODAY! www.lakes.me/donate
