The City of Yates Center is accepting applications for a Public service worker for the
Water/Wastewater Department
Qualifications
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor
• Some knowledge of maintenance of public grounds and facilities
• Ability to operate trucks and light equipment
• Knowledge of operation and maintenance of trucks, light equipment and lawn care
tools
• Ability to listen to and follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to work well with a small team
• Completion of high school or GED required
• A current Kansas driver’s license
• Must be available to work nights, overtime, and weekends in emergencies or on
rotation
• Individual must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, climb, balance, stoop,
kneel, crouch, reach, handle, grasp, and speak
Responsibilities
• Under supervision, performs a variety of manual labor, testing of water after training,
meter readings, installation of water and sewer infrastructure, maintenance of
infrastructure
• Mows and trim lawns and brush
• Drives vehicles, operates light equipment, and heavy equipment after training
• Maintains city equipment
• Performs additional duties as assigned
