🌳💔 And just like that...they're gone.

It's strange to look out there and not see them anymore. While we know removing them was the right decision, it doesn't make the view feel any less empty...now we start imagining what comes next.

🌳 A Difficult Day at the Park

Today, we're saying goodbye to not one, but two of the park's longtime landmarks.

After the recent storm damaged one of our large trees, further inspection revealed concerns with the neighboring tree as well. With the damaged tree being removed, the second tree would become much more exposed to wind and weather, creating additional safety concerns. Because of this, both trees will be coming down. This news is heartbreaking for many of us.

For generations, these trees have been a gathering place. They've provided shade on hot summer days, watched over countless ballgames and festivals, sheltered conversations between friends and neighbors, and stood in the background of childhood memories for generations of local families. It's hard to imagine that corner of the park without them.

While we're saddened, we're also incredibly grateful that no one was injured and no property was damaged during the storm. The safety of our players, families, volunteers, and visitors must always come first.

Some things can't truly be replaced. These trees were part of the character, history, and identity of our park. We plan to plant new trees and continue beautifying this area of the park so future generations can enjoy the same sense of community, gathering, and shade that these trees provided for so many years.

If you have a favorite memory or an old photo featuring these trees, we'd love for you to share it in the comments. ❤️🌳

⚠️ PUBLIC NOTICE 🚨

A large tree has sustained significant damage and remains unstable. For everyone's safety, please avoid the back field and surrounding grassy areas until we can get the area cleaned up and fully assessed.

Please help us by keeping children, pets, and spectators away from the area and respecting any barriers or markings that may be placed.

Thanks for your patience and understanding while we get everything cleaned up and safe again! 🌳
