We have some exciting library card news!

We are so proud to be partnering with Laufey - 2X GRAMMY® Award-winning artist, New York Times bestselling author, and honorary chair of Library Card Signup Month and her global Laufey Book Club to offer a limited-edition TRL X Laufey Book Club Card celebrating community, creativity, and connection this September.

TRL is the ONLY library system in the state partnering with Laufey Book Club for this limited-edition card and one of nearly 50 library systems across the world launching these collaborative library cards.

How YOU can get your card:

• Cards will arrive at TRL libraries in early September, just in time for Library Card Signup Month.

• Follow your local Timberland Library on social media for an announcement when the cards arrive at your branch.

• Check your library’s open days and hours at TRL.org/Locations.

• Cards are available to both new and existing TRL cardholders*, one per patron, while supplies last. No reservations will be available.

Not a TRL cardholder yet? You can get one if you live, work, or attend school in our five-county service area! Learn more at TRL.org/Library-Card

*If you’re an existing cardholder, your new Laufey card will come with a new library card number.

The Patron Coalition fot Local Libraries is hosting a listening session at the Lacey Timberland Library on Friday, August 21 from 11am - 1pm.

The goal of this session is for community members to share their thoughts about the library, including what they hope the impact of a levy lid lift could be at their local branches.

Dolly Parton was more than a country music legend. She was a songwriter, storyteller, philanthropist, and champion for children and literacy.

But perhaps Dolly’s greatest legacy was the way she made people feel welcome, seen, encouraged, and a little more hopeful.

Our water tower shines in “a coat of many colors” as we remember Dolly and the incredible legacy she leaves behind.

May we carry forward a little of what she gave so freely: kindness, generosity, a good sense of humor, and the courage to be exactly who you are.

Since becoming interim executive director in May 2026, Andrea Heisel has focused on strengthening Timberland Regional Library’s [TRL] financial future, increasing transparency, and ensuring the library continues to meet the needs of the communities it serves.

Over the past several months, TRL has made significant organizational and financial changes while preparing for important decisions about the library’s future. In this Q&A, Heisel shares her perspective on those changes, the role libraries continue to play in our communities, and why the Board of Trustees is placing a levy lid lift measure before voters this November.

Whoa! Good job Seattle Public Library. Let's see Timberland do just as well.

Seattle voters gave a strong thumbs-up to the city’s latest library levy this week, approving the 2026 Library Levy Proposal with 72% of the vote.

The seven-year levy will invest nearly $480 million in the Seattle Public Library system from 2027 through 2033, replacing the expiring 2019 levy.

For homeowners, the levy is expected to cost about 23 cents per $1,000 of assessed home value. According to the Seattle City Budget Office, that works out to an average of about $193 per year for a home with the city’s median assessed value.

More specifics on what the levy will pay for at the link in our comments below 📚
