Clearwood: Let's Focus on Facts, Not Fiction
Neighbors,
Over the past several months, we've all seen an increase in posts, comments, rumors, speculation, and even AI-generated content about Clearwood Community Association, the Board of Directors, staff, finances, elections, and future projects.
Let's remember something important:
Social media is not real life.
A post, screenshot, rumor, or meme rarely tells the whole story. Running Clearwood is much more complex than what can be captured in a Facebook comment thread. In many ways, managing Clearwood is similar to operating a small city, with roads, water systems, recreational facilities, security gates, common areas, finances, employees, legal requirements, and long-term infrastructure planning.
What is happening in Clearwood is not a conspiracy or hidden agenda.
What is happening is the continuation of years of work to address decades of deferred maintenance, aging infrastructure, and improvements needed to preserve and strengthen our community for future generations.
Clearwood is a wonderful place to live.
It is a community where families grow, neighbors support one another, volunteers give countless hours of service, and people genuinely care about the future of this place we call home.
The hostility, personal attacks, misinformation, and division we sometimes see online are not representative of who we are as a community.
✅ We can disagree without being disagreeable.
✅ We can ask tough questions without attacking each other.
✅ We can challenge decisions while still respecting volunteers, Board members, and staff.
Most importantly, if you have concerns, questions, or disagreements, please get involved.
Attend a Board meeting.
Review the documents available on the website.
Ask questions.
Speak with Board members.
Talk with staff.
Join a committee.
Participate in the process.
Constructive involvement makes communities stronger. Rumors and misinformation do not.
A Few Quick Facts
📌 The Association is independently audited every year.
📌 Financial reports and reserve studies are available for members to review.
📌 Elections are conducted under legal guidance and ballot counting is livestreamed.
📌 Board vacancies must go through a public process.
📌 The new Administration Building is not a $3 million building. The approximately $3 million project includes a new administration building, gate improvements, entrance redesign, parking improvements, mailbox relocation and replacement, septic infrastructure, technology systems, and meeting space. The building itself is projected at approximately $1.53 million.
📌 Employee hiring follows an established recruitment process and HR guidance.
📌 Financial transfers between Association accounts are approved through Board resolutions and documented for member review.
📌 The Administration Building and Front Gate Project has been discussed publicly for years, included in community planning documents, and shaped by surveys, studies, and strategic planning efforts.
Moving Forward Together
Whether you've lived in Clearwood for thirty years or thirty days, your voice matters.
But meaningful participation requires more than reading social media.
It requires showing up, asking questions, reviewing facts, listening to different perspectives, and being part of the solution.
If you think something can be improved, get involved and help improve it.
If you have concerns, bring them forward.
If you have ideas, share them.
Together, we can choose facts over rumors, civility over hostility, and community over division.
