Busy Friday here! First an advanced airway class given by PHI at the ER the protocol testing and finally forceable entry.

Today on A-Shift, Captain Mario Juarez and Firefighters Sebastian Muniz & Wesley Bordovsky were putting in the work training over forcible entry.

One part of this training prop allows us to use our tools and simulate getting through a locked door. Training today offered the opportunity review techniques used on outward and inward swinging doors.

Tuesdays are for Training!!

Last night, Yoakum Volunteer Firefighters met at the station and had a great training session over Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) Pack.

The SCBA is one part of our system of gear that allow us to enter into dangerous atmospheres and supply us with clean breathing air. The RIT Pack is designed to be used in the event a firefighter's SCBA fails for any given reason. It is designed to connect to the SCBA and be a second source of breathing air.

Some of our younger firefighter are shown here working on learning the basics and becoming familiar with the equipment (no gloves).
