When the PL Gulch Fire ignited last week, plenty of residents feared we were headed for a repeat of last summer.

We are exceedingly pleased to report that worst case scenario did not materialize. This week, we spoke with Incident Management Team Operations Section Chief Doug Cupp about how a critical window of opportunity — along with timing, weather and careful strategy — helped keep the fire from becoming another 100,000-acre blaze. Yoder’s Brush 41 responded last night to a fire in Moffat County Colorado. The fire has spread to 1,600 acres since 1904 hours last night. Brush 41 and its crew are working hard to help the containment of this fire.

👨‍🚒 Brothers on the Fireline 🔥

Wildland fire assignments often bring together firefighters from across the country—but sometimes, they bring family together too.

These photos capture brothers Bailey Powell of the Yoder Fire Department and Cody Powell of the Fort Laramie Fire Department serving side by side on the P-L Gulch Fire in Colorado.

Bailey is pictured coordinating helicopter bucket drops, communicating with aviation resources to ensure each load of water is placed where it can make the greatest impact for firefighters on the ground.

Another photo shows Cody watching the fire's intense behavior as crews continue working to hold the line through challenging conditions. Day and night, firefighters remain focused on protecting lives, property, and natural resources.

While they proudly represent different departments, Bailey and Cody exemplify what the fire service is all about—commitment, teamwork, and answering the call, no matter where it takes them.

🤝 One Team. One Mission. One Fire. 🔥

Wildland fire suppression is built on teamwork, and the P-L Gulch Fire is a great example of agencies coming together to protect lives, property, and natural resources.

Pictured here is Engine 1611 from Craig, Colorado, alongside the Yoder Wildland Crew and Yoder Brush 41. Local, state, and federal firefighters are working side by side, combining resources, experience, and specialized equipment to safely and effectively suppress this fire.

No single agency fights a large wildfire alone. Success depends on strong partnerships, coordinated strategy, and the dedication of every firefighter on the line. We are proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with our partners in this effort.

Thank you to everyone working tirelessly on the P-L Gulch Fire. Stay safe, watch out for one another, and keep up the outstanding work.

✈️ Caught on Camera: An Incredible Air Tanker Drop on the P-L Gulch Fire 🔥

While assisting with suppression efforts on the P-L Gulch Fire, the Yoder Wildland Crew captured this incredible air tanker drop in action.

Air tankers play a critical role in slowing wildfire spread, supporting firefighters on the ground, and providing valuable time for crews to strengthen containment lines.

Wildland Crew Update – Aspen Acres Fire

Dozer 1 and our crew are currently assigned to the Aspen Acres Fire in Colorado, where they are working in some of the most challenging terrain on the incident.

The steep, heavily timbered slopes shown in these photos require exceptional skill, experience, and precision to operate safely. Building fireline with a dozer on this type of terrain isn't just about moving dirt—it's about making critical decisions every moment while operating thousands of pounds of equipment on extreme grades, often in smoky, rapidly changing conditions.

Dozer crews are a vital part of the wildland firefighting effort. The fireline they construct helps slow fire spread, protects communities and natural resources, and creates safer working conditions for firefighters on the ground.

🚒 Wildland Crew Update – PL Gulch Fire

Brush 41 and our wildland crew are currently assigned to the PL Gulch Fire, working alongside firefighters from multiple agencies to help protect lives, property, and natural resources.

These photos, taken by Bailey Powell, capture just a small glimpse of the conditions our firefighters are working in. We are proud of our crew's professionalism, training, and commitment as they continue to serve wherever they are needed.
