Bring the kids, bring the family, and come out to meet your local Yonkers Police Officers and neighbors at this great FREE community event!

National Night Out is a nationwide annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. It provides an excellent opportunity to bring Police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

We will have four locations for our National Night Out events, one in each Precinct.
⏰All events will take place from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM:
📍1st Precinct - Andrus Field (Central Park Avenue, south of Tuckahoe Road)
📍 2nd Precinct - Coyne Park (McLean Avenue, east of Central Park Avenue)
📍 3rd Precinct - Sullivan Oval (Bryant Road/Knollwood Road)
📍4th Precinct – JFK Marina (Warburton Avenue/JFK Memorial Drive)

Each Precinct's National Night Out event is planned by the local Precinct and their respective Police Community Council members. There will be an assortment of entertainment, vendors, children's activities, food, and free handouts at each location.

Stop by to meet and greet many of your local Police Officers and neighbors, and have a great time! This event is our largest community outreach program of the year and often draws hundreds of participants to each location!

⛈️ Last night’s swift but powerful Independence Day storm has generated almost 200 CALLS for over 80 DOWNED TREES across Yonkers, as calls continue to come in this morning.

Yonkers Police Officers remain deployed throughout the city, identifying hazards, closing affected roadways, and keeping the public safe, as our Public Safety Dispatchers have had phones and radios glued to their ears fielding these calls and directing services to the appropriate locations.

Meanwhile, our Parks Department Shade Tree Division and Department of Public Works crews are working diligently to remove trees from public property and clear roadways, while utility companies begin to restore services to affected areas.

If you are calling to report downed trees, please report them appropriately:

🚨 Call 9-1-1 immediately if:
• Someone has been injured.
• A tree has brought down power lines.
• A tree has fallen onto an occupied vehicle or home.

📞 For downed trees that are not life-threatening, call the Yonkers Police Department’s non-emergency line at 914-377-7900.

If you come across downed trees, avoid them and never approach fallen power lines. Thank you for your patience as crews continue working to safely restore normal conditions throughout the city.

At approximately 10:17am this morning, Yonkers Police Officers began actively pursuing a suspect vehicle from a carjacking. This vehicle pursuit led Officers into the Bronx, at which point the suspect, who was traveling the wrong way on a Mosholu Parkway exit ramp, collided head-on with a marked Yonkers Police vehicle.

As Yonkers PD Officers attempted to apprehend the suspect after the collision, he drove directly at a uniformed Officer who was outside of his vehicle, at which point the Officer fired several shots at the suspect, who then fled the scene.

The Officer involved suffered injuries related to the motor vehicle accident, and is in stable condition. No Officers were struck by gunfire. There were no civilian injuries reported during this incident.

Officers from several jurisdictions are still attempting to locate the suspect. More information may be released as it becomes available.

Your Yonkers Fire Dept is currently on scene of a major structure fire at 80 Riverdale Ave on the City's southwest side. Initial reports of fire in the compactor room, with people trapped on the top 10 floors due to smoke. All companies are working

YFD is currently operating at 50 Riverdale Avenue fighting a large fire.

-Riverdale Avenue is closed from Prospect Street to Vark Street

-Prospect Street is closed from S Broadway to Riverdale Avenue.

Media responding to scene should stage in front of 61 Riverdale Avenue.

Please avoid the area if at all possible.

The Yonkers Police Department mourns the loss of retired K9 Cali, who passed away on April 6, 2026.

K9 Cali proudly served the people of the City of Yonkers alongside her handler, Police Officer Robert Ascolillo, after she joined the YPD in 2016. Generously donated by Parson-DiSalvo Insurance Company, she dedicated over six years to our community before retiring in August of 2023.

K9 Cali was the YPD’s FIRST bloodhound K9. Throughout her career, K9 Cali was instrumental in locating numerous individuals and was recognized time and again for her exceptional work. She also made a lasting impact in the city, participating in hundreds of demonstrations and inspiring countless students through community outreach.

K9 Cali was more than a working dog- she was a loyal partner and a beloved member of our Department and community.

We thank her for her faithful service.
