Rest in peace to American country singer, philanthropist, and literacy advocate, Dolly Parton.

Dolly has always understood the importance of fostering a love of reading in children. She launched the Imagination Library in 1995 under her nonprofit, The Dollywood Foundation, and it remains the world’s leading early childhood book-gifting program.

The program has gifted more than 300 million free books to children across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Ireland, strengthening children’s early literacy skills and family reading habits on a global scale.

Dolly's legacy lives on in all those who continue to carry out the mission of nourishing children's love of reading.

🚗📚 Yonkers Public Library is proud to celebrate the completion of the full repaving of the Will Library parking lot!

The lot had not been fully repaved since Will Library opened in 1962—making this a long-overdue and important investment in safety, accessibility, and our community.

The project included new curb cuts and regraded surfaces to make the library easier to access for patrons with disabilities and mobility challenges.

The $200,000 New York State Local Community Assistance Program (LoCAP) grant, secured with the support of State Senator Shelley Mayer, helped fund the project, with the City of Yonkers covering the remaining costs.

Thank you to Senator Mayer, Mayor Spano, the City of Yonkers, New York State, and the YPL Board for helping make this important improvement possible!

🍀 Take a virtual trip to Ireland—no passport required! 🇮🇪

Join us at Will Library for a 60-minute virtual walking tour of Ennistymon, County Clare, known as Clare’s Hidden Gem. Explore the town’s historic streets and discover the stories behind the places and traditions that have made Ennistymon a vibrant cultural and commercial hub for generations.

Along the way, we’ll visit landmarks including the historic Falls Hotel and Ennistymon House, an 18th-century mansion built upon the ruins of an O’Brien Castle. 🏰

The tour also celebrates Ennistymon’s rich cultural legacy, from traditional Irish music and literature to poetry and storytelling.
