What a great turnout at our first Ready Your Ride: E-Bike Rider Training event on May 16 at Yorba Linda City Hall! 🚴⚡ Riders spent the day building confidence and sharpening their skills through hands-on training led by our deputies, covering important safety tips, local laws, and rules of the road.

Participants also put their new knowledge into action by navigating obstacle courses designed to reflect real-life riding situations. Parents explored our Parent Corner for valuable resources, rider expectations, and enforcement information to help keep young riders safe.

A big thank you to all the riders and families who joined us and helped make this event such a success! 👏

During National Police Week in Washington, D.C., members of the law enforcement community came together to remember and honor officers who gave their lives in the line of duty. As part of the week’s events, OCSD Yorba Linda Police Services Sergeant Donny Lee, School Resource Officer Dan Lee, and Deputies Keith Harrison and Kiana Lewis completed the Police Unity Tour — a more than 250-mile bicycle ride paying tribute to fallen officers and supporting their families.

We are proud to recognize their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to honoring the memory of the fallen through this deeply impactful experience.

Yesterday, at the 2026 Medal of Valor Ceremony, hosted by , three of our deputies were recognized for their extraordinary bravery, unwavering dedication, and selfless service during the performance of their duties in Yorba Linda.

Deputy Joseph White received the Medal for Lifesaving for performing CPR to save a 53-year-old man. On May 7, 2025, Deputy White was conducting patrol checks when he saw a vehicle on the side of the road and a young man attempting to signal for help with his father, who was having a heart attack. Deputy White immediately acted, getting the father out of the vehicle and pulling him to the sidewalk, where Deputy White started CPR and continued until paramedics arrived. The man was taken to the hospital and eventually made a full recovery.

Deputies Michael Kobel and Kiana Lewis received the Medal for Lifesaving for providing medical aid after a shooting occurred at Featherly Regional Park on May 4, 2025. Upon arrival, the deputies were met with a dangerous and chaotic scene. Without hesitation, the deputies advanced in the area and initiated lifesaving triage after ensuring the suspect was secured. Along with their partners and others who stepped in to assist, they were able to secure the scene and render aid to victims until paramedics arrived. Both shooting victims were taken to the hospital and later recovered.

We are incredibly proud of their exceptional courage, steadfast commitment, and selfless service. These dedicated individuals answered the call without hesitation, going above and beyond to protect others while upholding their promise to serve the community. Congratulations to Deputies White, Kobel, and Lewis—your dedication represents the very best of our Department and the community you serve.

You may sometimes see individuals, who refer to themselves as ‘First Amendment auditors,’ recording in public spaces. They do this to exercise their rights and document how people and government officials respond, often sharing the footage online as content on their platforms.

We receive many calls for service when auditors appear in busy locations in Yorba Linda, such as the Post Office. While it can feel uncomfortable, filming in areas that are open to the public is generally legal, and there is no reasonable expectation of privacy in those settings.

What to keep in mind:

Engaging with someone who is recording can draw more attention and may escalate the situation. In many cases, a reaction is exactly what they are hoping for.

The best approach:

Remain calm and go about your day. Choosing not to interact often discourages further activity.

Please contact us if:

▪️Someone enters areas that are not open to the public.
▪️Access to a business or building is being obstructed.
▪️Behavior becomes threatening.

We understand that being recorded without your consent may feel invasive. Our priority is to maintain a safe environment while upholding the rights of all individuals. Often, the most effective response is not responding at all.
