The cool kids let us sit at their table today! 🙌🍕✨

Our officers stopped by York Comprehensive High School during lunch period and ended up snagging the best seats in the entire cafeteria. What started as a quick bite turned into an awesome session of traded jokes, big laughs, and genuine connection.

Huge thanks to these fantastic students for making room at the table, keeping our officers on their toes, and reminding us why we love serving this community every single day.

York Cougars, you made lunch the absolute best part of our shift—we’re already planning our next visit! 🐾💙

🎉 Summerfest is officially underway in the White Rose City! ☀️🎡

We had an incredible kickoff this morning during the opening ceremonies! A huge thank you to the talented York Comprehensive High School Choir for blessing us with a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem. 🎶🇺🇸

We were also honored to hear inspiring opening remarks from Mayor Mike Fuesser, and a wonderful opening prayer led by Mayor Pro Tem Rev. Ed Brown. A special thank you to our community leaders for joining us today, including State Representatives Tommy Pope and Daniel Moss, as well as York County Councilman Tommy Adkins!

Our officers are out and about having an absolute blast, and we would love to see you! If you spot our team walking around, be sure to stop by, say hello, and grab a high-five. 🚔👋

Grab the family, bring your appetite, and come on down to Summerfest—we can’t wait to celebrate with you! 🎈🌭✨

🏃‍♂️💨 And they’re off! Summerfest is officially underway! 🎉☀️

We kicked off the festivities this morning with our annual 5K, and the energy was incredible! A huge shoutout to our amazing police officers who were out bright and early directing traffic, cheering on runners, and making sure everyone stayed safe along the course. 👮‍♂️🚔💙

To wrap up a fantastic race, Mayor Fuesser was at the finish line handing out awards to our top runners and celebrating with all the participants. 🏅👏

Thank you to everyone who laced up their running shoes, volunteered, or came out to cheer. The fun is just getting started—we can’t wait to see you all around the festival today! 🎡🍔🎶

Drop your race photos in the comments below! 👇📸

Rise and shine, York! ☀️

Briefing is officially complete, the extra-large QT cups are drained, and our team is fully geared up for one of the greatest days of the year - Summerfest!

We’re out in full force to make sure everyone has an incredible and safe time. Before you head downtown for the music, food, and fun, keep a few things in mind:

🏃‍♂️ Heads Up on Traffic: Road closures will begin promptly at 7:00 AM for the 5K race! Please plan your routes and parking accordingly so our runners have a clear, safe course.

Don't forget to take a quick peek at the event rules and guidelines we posted yesterday:

🚫 Play by the rules: Check yesterday's post for all the reminders on designated parking, open containers, and prohibited items so you don't get caught off guard.

💧 Hydrate like a pro: Drink plenty of water in between those festival treats.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Keep the crew together: Keep an eye on the little ones, and if you need anything at all, just flag down an officer.

Come say hello, grab some good food, and let’s make this the best Summerfest yet!

🎉 SUMMERFEST IS TOMORROW! 🎉
One of the absolute greatest events of the year is finally here! Our officers will be out in full force, working hard to keep everyone safe so you can focus on having a fantastic time.

Before you head out, here are a few quick reminders to keep things running smoothly:

🛣Traffic & Road Closures: There will be street closures throughout the downtown area. Please pack your patience and follow all instructions from the police officers directing traffic.

🚗Parking & Shuttles: Need a spot to park? Parking will be available at York Middle School (1010 Devinney Road) and York Place (234 Kings Mountain Street). A huge thank you to our wonderful community partner, York School District 1, who will be providing convenient shuttle services to the event!

🍸Alcohol Policy: Enjoy your drinks, but keep them where you bought them! Alcohol can only be consumed on the premises where it was purchased. Walking around town with an open container of alcohol is strictly prohibited.

😺Furry Friends: There are no pets allowed at Summerfest. Under federal ADA law, only service animals - specifically dogs and miniature horses trained to provide a specific service - are permitted within the venue. Please note that emotional support animals are not defined as service animals by the ADA and will not be allowed.

A quick note on animals: Please leave your exotic pets at home, too! We still laugh about the time several years ago when a citizen tried to casually stroll into the venue with a giant pet snake wrapped around their neck. As much as we appreciate a good reptile encounter, let's stick to the stuffed animals at the vendor booths! 🐍

☀️ Stay Safe in the Sun
It is going to be a beautiful day, so please remember to drink plenty of water, stay hydrated, and wear your sunscreen! While our officers are always willing to jump in and provide first aid if you need it, we'll be the first to admit that bandaging isn't exactly our strong suit. That is exactly why our highly capable brothers and sisters at the City of York Fire Department, SC will be on standby to handle any actual medical emergencies! 🚒🩹

Folks, come on out, meet your neighbors, interact with our wonderful police officers, and enjoy all the incredible events and vendors at Summerfest. We cannot wait to see you there!

TL;DR for those who scroll too fast:

When: Tomorrow!

Traffic: Roads are closed. Listen to the officers pointing; they know the way.

Parking: York Middle School & York Place. The school district is driving the shuttle bus.

Drinks: Finish your beverage before you walk away. No open containers on the street.

Pets: None. Zero. Zip. Real ADA service animals only (please leave the emotional support pythons at home).

Ouchies: Drink water, wear sunscreen, and we'll find you a firefighter if you need medical care. We mostly do handcuffs, not stitches!

The excitement is in the air—and so is the heat!

York Summerfest, presented by Comporium is almost here, and we can't wait to see you downtown! If you're coming out to enjoy all that York Summerfest has to offer, be sure to stay cool, drink plenty of water, and take breaks in the shade throughout the day.

Here’s where you’ll find all the fun:
Car Show: S. Congress Street near the Government Center
Arts, Crafts & Retail Vendors: N. Congress Street, Liberty Street & Madison Street
Food Trucks: N. Roosevelt Street & Yorkville Marketplace
Live Music: Enjoy live entertainment on all three stages:
Five Blossoms Shoppe White Rose Stage
Rock Hill Coca-Cola Main Stage
City Park Stage
Kids Zone: Raile Street at City Park
Monster Energy BMX Shows: Don’t miss the high-flying action!

There’s something for everyone at York Summerfest! Check out the full schedule of events below and start planning your day.

We’ll see you Saturday, August 22, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm for York Summerfest!

🚨 350+ Years of Service Under One Roof! 🚨

This past week, we had the profound honor of hosting a retiree luncheon that brought together some of the finest who have worn the badge. 🇺🇸

Several of our retired officers joined Chief Trail for a fantastic lunch, providing a wonderful opportunity for the brave men and women who served the citizens of York to reunite, share a few "war stories," and enjoy some truly great food together.

When we tallied up the years of service among those present, we were absolutely humbled to realize there was over 350 years of law enforcement experience in one room! 🚓💙

These individuals dedicated their careers—and their lives—to keeping our community safe, and their legacy continues to inspire us every single day. We are so incredibly grateful for their lifelong service and sacrifice, and we look forward to hosting many more luncheons and events with our retirees in the future.

Thank you to all who attended and made it such a special afternoon!
