🏆 We did it! Harold C. Johnson Elementary won the in the Heroic tier!

We placed first in the state in April for the Prodigy State Challenge!! We earned an award banner and a prize box! Way to go students! Remember that you can access Prodigy and other learning platforms throughout the summer!

We celebrated the end of the 2025-2026 school year with staff luncheon and closing ceremony. We have so much to celebrate this year: amazing student growth and achievement, staff members who are moving on to new adventures, and Ms. Garvin’s 36 year career as a kindergarten teacher in York School District One! Staff members were encouraged to always remember the importance of the work that they do each day. We are truly leaving lasting imprints on our students’ lives! While we teach them for 180 days, the impact can truly be lifelong!

Our second graders gave us so much to celebrate this year! We honored each student’s accomplishments during our second grade awards program today. Way to go second graders!

Today, we celebrated our fourth graders! They took their ceremonial last walk through the halls and were congratulated by their school family, their parents, and extended family members before entering the auditorium for their awards program. Our fourth graders made tremendous academic growth this year, and we know that they will continue to succeed at YIS next year! Remember, you will always be part of the HCJ family! Always a jaguar!!

Our former HCJ students of the YCHS Class of 2026 returned for our graduation walk this morning! This amazing group of students has accomplished so much throughout their time in York School District 1, and we are confident that they will continue to make us proud in the future! Once a Jaguar, and now a Cougar—always in our hearts! We love you seniors!!

Last night, our district recognized our retirees. Ms. Connie Garvin is retiring this year after 36 years of dedicated service as a kindergarten teacher in York School District One! Ms. Garvin began her career at Jefferson Primary School in 1990, then helped open Cotton Belt Elementary School, then moved to the newly renovated Harold C. Johnson Elementary. Ms. Garvin has impacted countless lives over her amazing career- touching the lives of her students, their families, and her colleagues. Ms. Garvin is greatly respected for her knowledge, expertise, compassion, and passion for lifelong learning and public education! Please join us in congratulating Ms. Garvin on reaching this milestone!
