❤️💙Our CASA Spotlight for June is Liz Glatfelter! ❤️💙
Her passion: Children. Period. First and foremost, she is a devoted mother and wife. She loves to spend her time planning fun activities for her children, ranging from 2 years old to 20 years old. Together they enjoy doing day adventure trips like visits to the zoo, beach, and local parks, participating in car shows (with their 1989 FORD Crown Victoria Country Squire), and going to music concerts.
For the past 13 years, Liz has worked as an Early Childhood Education Director. Having obtained her AA in Childhood Education and then her Director’s Credentials in 2018, she is laser-focused on being the best she can be in a field that truly is her passion. Her love of learning fuels that passion as she continues to broaden her knowledge now in pursuing certification for Infant Mental Health through Penn State.
Her introduction to the CASA program began as a foster parent. Their first placement had been appointed a CASA (shout out to our Betsy Keefer). She was amazed to see someone on the team who had the ability to go above and beyond to help advocate for the child. She appreciated the CASA’s role and the relationship Betsy had with her family. When they had decided to wrap up their foster care journey and close their home, Liz still wanted to give back to the community, specifically wanting to be a voice for the little ones in the foster care system. Things changed, they did not close their home, but she still pursued becoming a CASA.
Becoming a CASA embodies who she is, someone who is passionate in advocating for children. She knows this work is where she was led to serve and it is where her heart is most fulfilled.
She is currently advocating for a child right now. She enjoys being able to build relationships with all parties in the case, but she especially enjoys building the relationship with the child. She encourages new CASAs or those in training that the impact you will have on the children, the families, and the case is truly a blessing for everyone involved.
We are honored that Liz volunteers her valuable time to be a CASA for York County. We truly are blessed to have her advocating for the neglected and abused children in our welfare system.
Thank you, Liz!
