This week, our very own County Detective Paul Pelaia, rode in the annual Police Unity Tour as a member of Team York County. The Police Unity Tour is an annual event with the purpose of raising awareness of officers fallen in the line of duty, with proceeds supporting the National Law Enforcement Museum’s Hall of Remembrance, the Memorial Fund’s Officer of the Month Award, and other special programs.

Team York County prepares for the long and challenging four-day journey from New Jersey to Washington, D.C. each year, through fundraising and rigorous physical training. Their motto is ‘We ride for those who died,’ and their goal is to raise awareness of the ultimate sacrifice made by so many law enforcement officers each year. This year, Team York County rode in honor of Officer Andrew Duarte, Detective Sergeant Cody Becker, Detective Mark Baker, and Detective Isaiah Emenheiser.

Thank you to Team York County for your work in raising awareness, honoring our fallen officers, and shining a light on the work and dedication of law enforcement officers that ensure public safety and community wellbeing in our York County community every day.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and this year’s national theme is ‘Pinwheels of Possibility,’ highlighting how partnering with families and communities can help prevent child abuse before it occurs. Prevention begins by ensuring families have access to the support, resources, and connections they need – before challenges turn into crises.

On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, District Attorney Barker joined President Commissioner Julie Wheeler, along with fellow community leaders and public servants, for the 2nd Annual Child Abuse Prevention Month Flag Planting.

On Friday, April 10, 2026, Prevent Child Abuse America’s Wear Blue Day, District Attorney staff showed their support and dedication to children and families, aiming to increase awareness of Child Abuse Prevention Month by wearing blue.

The York County District Attorney’s Office is committed to continuing critical work in child abuse prevention and intervention. Engaging in these opportunities facilitates community understanding of the scope and impact of child abuse prevention to support advocacy for change and investment in solutions that work.

We recognize that each and every day police officers go to work, not knowing if they will return home to their families. This is a danger they are keenly aware of and a reality of their job calling.

Cpl. Timothy O’Connor was assigned to Pennsylvania State Police, Troop J, Lancaster. This troop oversees State Police operations in Chester, Lancaster, and York counties. Cpl. O’Connor participated in many investigations in York County and we are truly grateful for his service and his efforts to make York County a safer community.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the O’Connor family and all Troopers within the Pennsylvania State Police as they are grieving this loss.
