What a month it has been! Here’s a look at a few highlights from the month:

💚: Sterling Dunlap, Brendan Salyards and David Elfreth traded in their usual work shoes for something a little more stylish at the YWCA’s Walk a Mile in Her Shoes press conference! 👠 We are looking forward to the event happening this Friday, September 4!

💚: We celebrated BLOOM alum and YCEA board member Ashana Taylor, owner of Fire Life Yoga, as she presented at Rotary this month. We were also joined by fellow YCEA board member Lauren Days, who came out to show her support!

💚: Erin Strine & Kim Hogeman visited Paxton Concrete in Dauphin County to learn a bit more about the concrete blocks that will be used to create the new levy system in the Codorus Greenway Project.

💚: Another Downtown First Awards is in the books! It was a wonderful evening celebrating the people, organizations and projects that continue to make Downtown York PA a thriving place to live, work and explore.

💚: Our BLOOM classes have been in full swing this month, giving small business owners the opportunity to strengthen their financial knowledge, build new skills, and gain practical tools to help their businesses grow.

💚: We hosted our fourth YCEA Networking Mixer of the year at Big Brothers Big Sisters of South-Central PA. Thank you to everyone who came out, connected and helped make it a great evening!

We are also excited to welcome our newest Events Manager, Emily Hughes, to the YCEA team! Be sure to give her a warm York County welcome when you see her out and about!

💚: We joined the Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce for the first Mega Mixer, bringing together businesses and community members from across two communities for a wonderful evening of networking at the Hanover Country Club.

💚: Silas Chamberlin took the stage at last week’s Economic Insights Breakfast to share an update on the first five years of the York County Trail Towns program and the impact it continues to have across the county.

💚: We had the pleasure of joining the City of York as they renamed a portion of College Avenue in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

🌲Trail Towns & Outdoor Recreation: Where Adventure Meets Commerce 🚴

At this morning’s Economic Insights Breakfast, we explored the growing impact of outdoor recreation on York County’s economy and communities.

Key takeaways included:
📍 The Heritage Rail Trail welcomed nearly 500,000 visits in 2025, reinforcing its role as a major destination for residents and visitors alike.
📍 Since launching, the Trail Town Program has invested in local communities through $139,000 in grants awarded to 81 businesses, more than $132,000 in façade improvement grants, and $3 million in construction capital projects.
📍Our 60+ Trail Town businesses have seen an average 37.7% increase in annual patronage, and the program has helped support the creation of 30 new businesses across participating communities.

Thank you to Jessica Fieldhouse of C.S. Davidson, Inc. for sharing valuable insights on the Hanover Trolley Line project. And thanks to our keynote presenter, Silas Chamberlin, Chief Strategy Officer with YCEA. for sharing how strategic investments in trails and outdoor recreation continue to drive economic growth throughout York County.

Thank you to our Series Presenting Sponsor, Glatfelter Insurance Group, and our August Breakfast Sponsor, C.S. Davidson, Inc.

⭐Save the date for next month where we’ll focus on the State of the County with the York County Commissioners on September 30.
