Glatfelter Library of Penn State York offers library users a wealth of informational resources, plus an inviting, comfortable study space for students and residents alike. Glatfelter Library comfortably fills a 20,000 square-foot two-level space, and includes many study rooms, several art collections, and a special collection of local and regional history materials. enerous amount of natural light, while offering sweeping views of York city, Memorial Park, and Baumgardner’s Woods. Comfortable lounge-type seating and large individual study carrels, each having task lighting and electricity, can accommodate differing study styles. About the Collection
The Glatfelter Library’s collection holdings include about 70,000 books, 100 journal and magazine subscriptions, and several thousand videos and music CDs. Library users may also borrow freely from the vast collection of over 5 million titles spread throughout Penn State’s 25 libraries, and can receive scans of articles found in the journal collections at those libraries. Additionally, library users have access to over 600 electronic informational databases, which include the full text of articles contained in about 30,000 electronic subscriptions for journals, magazines, and newspapers. About the Facility
The library group study rooms, seating up to 8 people, are equipped with large wall mounted flat screens for use with a laptop. Within the library are fourteen desk-top computers, twelve of which are accessed by a PSU password account, and which have word processing software and full internet access. The building is wireless, allowing Penn State users to connect to PSU’s network through personal laptops. Additionally, the library has 10 laptops which PSU users may check out for four-hour periods. Members of the York County community are welcome to use the Library and all its resources. Community users may obtain borrowing cards by presenting a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license for verification of identity.
