The 2026 Pioneer High School Clay Target Team attended state championships in Cicero, NY, this weekend and competed against 120 high school teams and more than 1,500 athletes from across NYS.
The Varsity team finished 1st, and the JV team finished in 2nd, also getting 2nd in the conference for the spring. Senior Kolten Mortek shot a 97/100, and senior Gavin Hammel shot a 91/100 in some very difficult and windy conditions. Best of luck in the future, Kolten and Gavin.
The team brought home a load of team honors from the shoot including:.
• 2nd place overall in their conference, finishing less than 10 targets behind 1st place
• 1st Place in the Varsity Class
• 1st Place Overall as a team
• 2nd Place in the Jr. Varsity Class
🏅Individual Accomplishments:
• Gavin (Senior) – 2nd Place in Junior Varsity shooting 91/100
• Kolton (Senior) – 4th Place in Varsity shooting 97/100 receiving a medal
• Cam (Sophomore) – 5th Place in Varsity shooting 96/100 receiving a medal
• Nick (Sophomore) – received a medal for shooting 93/100
• Carter (Junior) – received a medal for shooting 91/100
