The 5th annual Somers community day, "Celebrate Somers", will be held on Saturday, September 9th, 2017. The event will take place in the Somers Town Shopping Center (325 Route 100) from 10AM-3PM. It will be a fun-filled day of events and activities from many of our local businesses. In addition, there will be entertainment throughout the day including a DJ, dancers from local dance schools, live music by the home-grown band, "Gilbert”, among others. There will be amusements and games for the kids, a Gaga Pit (sponsored by Summer Trails Day Camp) and a large obstacle course. During the day, the roads through the shopping center will be closed all day starting at CVS and stretching to Astoria Bank. Join us for a wonderful day celebrating our community!

Senator Terrence Murphy, in connection with the Town of Somers, is holding a Major Relief Effort for the Citizens of the Texas Gulf Coast. Senator Murphy is looking to fill a tractor-trailer with critically needed items for people in the Gulf Region whose lives have been devastated by Hurricane Harvey. The tractor trailer can hold 48,000 pounds of goods. Items such as water, clean clothes, diapers, etc may be donated at the Somers Town House, 335 Route 202, Somers. There will be a donation box at the Town House from now until Friday, September 8, 2017. Any questions, you may call Supervisor Rick Morrissey's Office at 914-277-3637.

Tonight is the last chance to see the Energy Coach Presentation in Somers at the Lake Lincolndale Clubhouse. The address is 11 Lake Shore Drive North, Lincolndale (use Mahopac for a GPS).
If you have been thinking about making your home more energy efficient, now is the time to do it, before the state subsidies disappear! The program's 10% rebate will be going away on August 31st- get started on your project to secure the rebate and lower financing rate.

Somers residents, adults and children alike, are invited to join us and learn about what the Town has done with regard to sustainability and what is being planned for, through a variety of presentations, informational displays, handouts, and children's activities.

Energize New York, Field Goods, Solarize Westchester Somers, Somers Land Trust, Somers Litter Task Force, Somers Seed Lending Library, Sustainable Westchester and Westchester County Cornell Cooperative Extension will be present.

Somers Energy Environment Committee), a Town-sanctioned committee will provide presentations and/or information on Complete Streets (making Somers more walkable with cleaner air/environment for children and others), Municipal Permeable Paving, and Solar Gardens (providing solar for those that are not currently qualified due to location, condo ownership, etc.).
