πŸ€ To our campers: Thank you for trying new experiences, stepping outside your comfort zones, making new friends, and embracing all that camp has to offer.
πŸš€ To our teen counselors and adult volunteers: Thank you for leading by example, encouraging others, and helping create a positive and welcoming camp community.
🌟 To the camp and support staff at Jamestown 4-H Educational Center: Thank you for helping the week run so smoothly! From leading classes and activities to keeping us fed, safe, and supported, you are an essential part of making camp a success.
πŸ’š To our camp families: Thank you for entrusting us with your camper(s) for the week and supporting them as they explored new experiences, built friendships, and created lifelong memories. Your support and encouragement help make these camp experiences possible.

Virginia is home to one of the largest military and veteran populations in the U.S. Military families include hundreds of thousands of spouses and children living in the Commonwealth. This means Extension professionals working in youth development, community development, and health and well-being are already serving military familiesβ€”whether explicitly or not. About 70% of military families live off base, relying heavily on local services like schools, childcare, healthcare, and employment systems, and frequent moves mean families must quickly connect to new community resources and supports. Community capacity building ensures Virginia systems (schools, Extension, nonprofits, workforce programs) are equipped to meet the evolving needs of military families.
The live webinars include Q&A sessions, downloadable resources, and a companion podcast to further explore what it means to build communities where military families can thrive. All sessions are recorded for flexible, on-demand access so you can learn at your own pace.
Your participation matters. Building strong communities to support military family readiness requires collaboration across disciplines. By registering today, you’ll join a network of professionals working collaboratively to strengthen systems, build partnerships, and implement community-based solutions that support military family readiness.
