York-Poquoson Democratic Committee What do we stand for? We believe in the democratic process and the constitutional rule of law. They are : Equality of opportunity for youth and for others.

The York Poquoson Democratic Committee is composed of citizen volunteers committed to making our community, our commonwealth, and our country a better place through participation in the democratic process. The York Poquoson Democratic Committee is the official representative of the Democratic Party of Virginia for the County of York and the City of Poquoson, Virginia. We support the Bill of Rights

, and all other explicit or implicit human rights. We believe that the political process should be used for the common good: to solve problems, not to create them. We believe in protecting our environment for the benefit of future generations. Franklin Delano Roosevelt perhaps summarized the Democratic Party platform best when he said:

The basic things expected by our people of their political and economic systems are simple. Jobs for those who can work. Security for those who need it. The ending of special privilege for the few. The preservation of civil liberties for all. The enjoyment of the fruits of scientific progress in a wider and constantly rising standard of living. These are the simple, the basic things that must never be lost sight of in the turmoil and unbelievable complexity of our modern world.

“The genesis of this bill came from three of my four boys being in Newport News public schools and seeing how great it was that they went to 100% free lunch,” Mullin told The Virginian-Pilot on Tuesday.
